๐Ÿถ ๐Ÿ“š HOT OFF THE PRESS!

Today we had an exciting visit from book club regular Edie Cu***ng, who brought in her very first self-published book about her much-loved pooch, Gus.

We're proud to have Edie's book on display in our library. Come in and take a look!

You can also purchase a copy off Edie at the upcoming Labour Day Market at the Great Barrier Island Sports and Social Club Inc

Congratulations, Edie! ๐ŸŒŸ

We love to hear what you love reading and here are a few of your favs from the last month ๐Ÿคฉ

๐Ÿ“– The Valley โ€“ Asher Emanuel
Emanuelโ€™s The Valley is both a gripping true story and a critical examination of New Zealandโ€™s criminal justice system. By centering the experiences of real people, it provides readers with a nuanced, humanized understanding of crime, punishment, and systemic inequities, making it essential reading for anyone interested in law, social policy, or contemporary New Zealand society

๐Ÿ™ The Soul of an Octopus โ€“ Sy Montgomery
The Soul of an Octopus follows Sy Montgomery from New England aquarium tanks to tropical reefs as she forges bonds with octopuses like Athena, Octavia, Kali, and Karma. Through encounters marked by play, escape attempts, and gentle touch, she explores the meeting of minds across an almost alien divide.

๐Ÿ”Ž Dissection of a Murder โ€“ Jo Murray
The story unfolds through Leilaโ€™s perspective and the mysterious Witness X, blending past and present. Five years prior, Leila defended Jack in a wrongful conviction case. Now, Jack is accused of murdering the very judge who sentenced him while his foster mother was dying. Leila must balance defending Jack, protecting her own secrets, and confronting the manipulations of her husband in court. The narrative explores themes of justice, loyalty, and moral ambiguity, with twists that challenge the readerโ€™s perception of truth

๐ŸŒต Banjara โ€“ Shana Chandra
A rich, multi-generational story exploring family, identity, culture, and belonging. Through the experiences of several generations, the novel examines the ties that connect us to our heritage and to each other. A powerful literary debut from an astonishing new Kiwi voice, focusing on the Indo-Fijian indenture system and how it affected generations across the Pacific.

๐Ÿ‘ Lost Lambs โ€“ Madeline Cash
When the Flynn family's unconventional lifestyle begins to unravel, three sisters find themselves navigating a series of increasingly strange and chaotic situations. Blending family drama, satire, mystery, and humour, Lost Lambs is a sharp and insightful look at the complexities of family life.

๐ŸŒ‘ Dark Site โ€“ Patrick Lee
Former operative Sam Dryden is drawn into a dangerous investigation involving a highly secretive government facility. Fast-paced and suspenseful, this thriller is packed with action, intrigue, and unexpected twists.
