Room 31 class took on an ultimate design challenge: building a lunchbox using only paper and sellotape!

It had to hold a full lunch—sandwich, drink, muesli bar, and chips—without crushing the food or falling apart. 🥪🧃

The students went through the whole design process:
-Designing clever structures and handles
-Testing & adapting their prototypes
-Evaluating their finished products

They learned all about real-world engineering and were so proud of what they built. Way to go, future engineers! 💡👏

This week, Fairburn is proud to celebrate Vagahau Niue (Niue Language Week)! 🇳🇺✨ We are excited to honour the rich culture, language, and heritage of Niue—the "Rock of Polynesia." Throughout the week, our students have been learning everyday greetings and phrases, exploring traditional Hiapo pattern designs, enjoying traditional Niuean songs, creating foufou and celebrating the stories and traditions that connect us across the Pacific. Last week in Room 5, our young learners put away the traditional rulers and explored non-standard units of measurement! Using colourful building blocks, paperclips, and hands, students discovered how to compare, estimate, and measure everyday classroom objects. Awesome work Room 5!

Fueling up for learning! Popcorn, pretzels, seeds, and a touch of chocolate—Room 30 created their own scroggin mix today as an ignition activity to launch their new unit. Hands-on, tasty, and full of energy! Yum!
