Prominent Māori health leader, Lady Tureiti Moxon, has lodged an urgent human rights complaint with the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) in Geneva. Her submission alleges "systemic discrimination" against Māori by the New Zealand government, pointing to a series of recent legislative actions and policy reversals—including the disestablishment of the Māori Health Authority—that she argues breach Te Tiriti o Waitangi and international human rights obligations. The complaint seeks international intervention to address what is described as "accelerating, state-driven harm" and the rapid dismantling of protections for Māori rights.
