When Jac's younger sister collapsed one night, he initially thought she was playing, but quickly realised she was having a seizure and wasted no time getting help⌚

He scooped her up and ran to his mother, who rushed his sister to their neighbour, Justin, a St John in Schools educator, who provided first aid until an ambulance arrived 🚑

Jac’s quick thinking and calm actions earned him our Courage in Action bravery award which was presented by Justin at a special school assembly 🏆

Jac’s mum Rebekah is super proud of how steady and caring he was and how he also looked after his other sister when the ambulance crew arrived 💖

Stories like Jac's remind us that age is no barrier. Young people can be lifesavers too👏

Some action-packed hands-on training for our critical care paramedic interns.

Our CCPs are equipped to respond to the most complex of incidents, providing advanced care to patients in the most life-threatening conditions 🩺

This particular day had our interns focusing on cardiovascular simulations, including practicing suctioning skills for airway management.

Rigorous training prepares our frontline staff to deliver expert clinical care with focus, compassion and determination at every callout ✅✅✅

🌟We're excited to introduce Cadet Leader Nate Woods, as our St John Youth NZ National Cadet of the Year 2027! 👏

Nate is from our St John Youth Division in Ashburton and presented himself as a cadet full of passion for the potential his generation has to offer, and dedication to bringing that potential to fruition.

"I'm incredibly humbled and honoured to have been selected as the 2027 National Cadet of the Year. If you had told 6-year-old me that one day I'd have the privilege of representing St John Youth across Aotearoa, I never would have believed you.

"What I love most about the youth programme is its people. He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata. It's a place where everybody belongs, and where every generation invests in the next by supporting one another to reach their potential."

Nate is poised to become a brilliant advocate for rangatahi during the programme's centenary year. 📣
