Commercial developments of this scale are never easy. There are countless moving parts – planning, consenting, infrastructure, construction, tenants, timelines, rising costs and inevitably a few curveballs along the way.
But what has emerged at Te Puna is a superb result and a development that genuinely adds to Cambridge.
With Destination O, Vetro, Homebrew, GJ Gardner and Glasshouse already part of the precinct – and more still to come – Construction Advantage has created much more than a collection of commercial buildings.
They’ve created exceptional places and spaces, attracted new businesses and investment, and added another vibrant destination to Cambridge’s growing commercial offering.
And if Saturday’s Open Day at O Studio was anything to go by – the precinct was absolutely fizzing!
At the Chamber, we talk a lot about economic development, business confidence and creating the right conditions for businesses to establish, invest and grow in Cambridge.
This is what that looks like on the ground.
Congratulations to the Construction Advantage team and everyone involved in bringing this development to life. A fantastic addition to Cambridge.

Collaboration at its best!! A start to raising awareness and safety for our equine road users.

💚 RESPONSIVE ROAD SAFETY 💚

These signs went up today on roads surrounding the Cambridge Racing Precinct to alert drivers to horse traffic in the area.

They are the result of a collaborative approach taken by authorities in addressing safety concerns raised by NZTR and WTR at Cambridge Racecourse on behalf of track riders accessing the site.

The New Zealand Vulnerable Road User Charitable Trust was included in the chain of communications and it’s been reassuring to observe the genuine buy-in by Waipā District Council’s roading & communications team to improve road safety outcomes. This in-house design just shows what is possible.

The joint approach to this work has been supported by Cambridge Chamber of Commerce NZ, Waikato Police, and NZTA, but the leadership of NZTR general manager of welfare and industry capability Sam Fursdon has been instrumental in leading this positive change.

Let’s hope increased awareness makes for safer journeys - on horse back and behind the wheel.

It was a crisp start to the morning, but warm and cosy at The Clements Hotel, where the Cambridge Business Chamber, Cambridge Community Board and a group of passionate local retailers opened the conversation about Christmas in Cambridge! 🎄

There was plenty of enthusiasm, creativity and festive spirit around the table as we began exploring how we can bring our town to life this Christmas.

Watch this space—exciting plans are underway!

It was great to catch up with Claire Hooton, Project & Engagements Specialist, and Selina Corboy, Communications Manager, from our new water services entity, Waikato Waters.

We appreciated the opportunity to hear more about Waikato Waters’ future plan proposed infrastructure upgrades and the communication strategy to lead awareness and understanding of the workstreams.

Staying connected and informed will be important as these plans progress, and we look forward to continuing the conversation.

What a wonderful afternoon of fashion, connection and purpose at Lake Karāpiro .

I'd like to acknowledge and thank our partners, Dress for Success Hamilton and the Ministry of Social Development, for their commitment to helping people prepare for, gain and thrive in employment.

As a Chamber, one of our core priorities is strengthening the capability of our business community. That means supporting employers to find great people while also helping remove barriers to employment for those ready to contribute.

Delivered through the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce in partnership with MSD, ChamberWorks provides employers with free access to workforce support, connecting businesses with pre-screened candidates, practical employment resources and development tools that help build stronger, more resilient teams.

Day 3 of our Building Business Capability series wrapped up this morning with our final session at the Avantidrome.

We were privileged to finish the series with an inspiring session from the team at Treadlite, sharing a remarkable journey of vision, innovation and ex*****on.
From humble beginnings to becoming a globally recognised, purpose-led business, their story reinforced many of the themes we've explored throughout the past three days – strategy, leadership, adaptability and backing great ideas with action.
A special thank you also to Sue Loder from Soda for outlining the opportunities available through Regional Business Partner funding and how businesses can access support to accelerate their own growth journey.
Our sincere thanks to Carley's Kitchen for generously providing delicious muffins for our attendees this morning – a much-appreciated way to start the day.
And finally, a huge thank you to Miff and the team at the Avantidrome.
If you're looking for a venue for your next meeting, conference or business event, we can highly recommend it. The facilities are exceptional, and the bird's-eye view across the velodrome provides a truly unique backdrop that was fitting for high performance conversations.
Thank you to every speaker and attendee who made our inaugural Building Business Capability series such a success. We look forward to building on this momentum.
