Fire and Emergency has received multiple calls to a fire on the Port Hills above Alderson Reserve.

Multiple Christchurch appliances are in attendance. Further appliances are responding.

A number of properties on Avoca Valley Road and Port Hills Road have been evacuated. Further evacuations are likely and New Zealand Police advises anyone who is concerned or feels unsafe to self-evacuate.

Road closures are in place at the intersection of Curries Road and State Highway 76 and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Facebook has changed Notifications for groups again.
They have automatically switched members of most groups to receive “Highlights” instead of “All Posts”.
This means that you will only see about one in ten posts on the groups you’re in! (Even if you’ve updated this in the past)
To change these settings..
1. Please go to notifications (click the 3 dots on the top right of the GROUP HOME page....or if on a mobile device click on the dots at the top right of your screen)
2. Click Manage Notifications
3. Change from “Highlights” to “All Posts”.
And your all done :-)

From 12 noon Friday 29 May, gatherings can be held with up to 100 people.

The new limit applies to gatherings at your home, events outside of home and public venues – including church services, weddings and, funerals and tangihanga.

When holding a gathering, play it safe — maintain hygiene standards and meet existing record-keeping requirements for contact tracing.

Community sports will also be able to operate easier, and sporting codes will be working on further guidance with Sport NZ.

Cabinet will again review the settings of Alert Level 2 on 8 June and have agreed that no later than 22 June, 4 weeks from today, they will consider a move to Alert Level 1.

Just some of what LEVEL 2 means :-)

Our move to Alert Level 2 at 11.59pm tonight (13 May) is about getting New Zealand moving again. Businesses can reopen with contact tracing in place, bubbles are no longer needed, and domestic travel can restart.
