Great day out at the 2024 Christchurch Vintage Car Club Swap Meet in Mcleans Island.
This year we had the 1920s Republic, 1940s International, 1960s International and 1970s International ambulances on show.
It's always exciting to drive the 1920s Republic through the streets of Christchurch.
Lots of interst in the vehicles and we made some amazing contacts.
Thank you to everyone that came to visit.

The team have been gifted a 1995 BMW K1100LT to rebuild into a replica ambulance response motorbike.
The bike was originally in service with the New Zealand Police before being sold into private ownership. It was saved from scraping by a serving Police Officer who lives in Wellington.
The bike was purchased from the Police Officer by the family of an Ambulance Preservation Team member who have gifted it to the team.
Historically Hato Hone St John would have sourced this model of motorbike from the New Zealand Police. These bikes mostly saw service in the North Island ambulance teams with short visits and trials in the South Island.
We are now beginning the rebuild process, first steps are to:
- Bring the bike back to warrantable road worthy standard.
- Source parts such as the wing mirrors and fairings for under the seat.
- Find the red beacon lights for the front and rear of the bike.
Eventually the bike will have the rarely seen yellow and blue signagelivery from the era.

IF YOU CAN HELP WITH THE PARTS WE NEED PLEASE LET US KNOW.

Our 1971 Dodge ambulance has been out today at the Oxford A&P show supporting the local ambulance team and Area Committee. Always a pleasure and enjoyable to get this classic ambulance out of the garage.

The team spent some time at the Twin Rivers car show today with our running project vehicles.
Thanks to Brendan McInnes for taking the 1922 Republic, Steve for taking the 1957 International and Alice who took the 1988 Bedford.
This is a great show with lots of interesting vehicles.
We were all excited to see an ex Lyttelton Mercury ambulance that was found abandoned in a quarry, rescued and restored as a camper by its current owner, looks really good.
