Great to see Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre receive Recognition of Excellence in both the Civic, Health and Arts and Tourism and Leisure categories at the 2026 Property Council New Zealand Property Industry Awards. šŸŽ‰

In a strong field, that is a result the wider project team can feel really good about.

CID delivered Parakiore on behalf of the Crown, in partnership with Christchurch City Council, which now owns and operates the facility. It took a huge team effort to bring the project to life, and it is great to see that recognised.

What matters most, though, is what Parakiore is now doing for Christchurch and Canterbury. In its first six months, it welcomed more than 720,000 visits and has already hosted the Special Olympics New Zealand National Summer Games, Canterbury Rams and Tactix home games, National League Water Polo, National League Futsal and South Island Artistic Swimming.

Thanks and congratulations to Christchurch City Council , CPB Contractors , AECOM, Aurecon , Warren and Mahoney, Peddle Thorp, MJMA, Boffa Miskell, Powell Fenwick, and the many others who helped make it happen. Tactix photo credit -

The first module lift at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital marked a major step in bringing the Interim Inpatient Unit from factory floor to site.

Built off site, delivered overnight and installed in hours, it’s a different way of building that’s helping bring capacity online faster.

CID is supporting Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora to deliver this programme, helping coordinate delivery and keep things moving safely and at pace as it rolls out across the country.

A 24-tonne hospital module is lifted into place under floodlights at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, marking the first step in bringing new inpatient capacity on site.

CID is supporting Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora to deliver the Interim Inpatient Units as part of a nationwide effort to bring more hospital capacity online, and this week you can start to see that taking shape.

The first module was craned into position in the early hours of Monday morning, with three more following on Monday night into Tuesday.

Each module is a substantial piece of the build, around 18 metres long and 4 metres wide. They travelled more than 400 kilometres from South Auckland to Hastings before being carefully lifted into place.

These four modules are the first of 14 that will come together to form the completed ward, part of a programme delivering five new inpatient units and 140 additional beds across the country.

It’s modular construction in action. While site works have been underway at Hawke’s Bay Hospital, the building itself has been constructed off site in parallel, allowing high quality clinical space to be brought together faster and with less disruption to hospital operations.

With the first modules now in place, the focus shifts to the next deliveries and assembling the full facility on site as the project gathers pace.

Early start at@portacom_nz ’s Wiri factory, where CID and Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora hosted Minister of Health Simeon Brown MP for a walkthrough of the Government's fast-tracked hospital wards programme.

It’s an impressive operation, with around 60 people on the floor during the visit and production running 24/7 across three shifts. The Hawke’s Bay 28 bed ward is now well advanced, made up of 14 modules that move through services installation and internal fit out before final enclosure.

CID is supporting Health New Zealand with procurement, contract management, programme oversight, assurance and reporting, working alongsideSouthbase Construction and Portacom to keep delivery moving.

The wider programme will deliver five standardised 28 bed units across Hawke’s Bay, Nelson, Middlemore, Waikato and Wellington, adding 140 beds in total.

The Kenepuru Science Centre is on the cusp of a major visual milestone.

With solar panel installation completed and scaffolding removal due to begin in early May, the $100 million facility is about to be revealed from the outside for the first time.

Crown Infrastructure Delivery is delivering the Kenepuru Science Centre for PHF Science, leading project delivery on one of the most complex science builds underway in New Zealand. Facilities like this demand rigorous risk management and tight control of quality, cost and programme at every stage.

Together with PHF Science, CID is helping bring a new kind of science facility to life. Purpose‑built laboratories, the Wellington Forensic Service Centre and an innovation hub will support critical public health, forensic and emergency response work for decades to come.

Progress on site reflects close collaboration between PHF Science, Crown Infrastructure Delivery, Hawkins, Rubix, WARREN AND MAHONEY, BECA and a wide group of specialist advisers, alongside cultural design input from Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira. As the building emerges, that coordination is becoming visible in more ways than one.

A major milestone at Wellington Girls' College this week, with the upgraded upper levels of Brook Block being handed back to the school in time for the start of Term 2.

Delivered for the Ministry of Education NZ by Crown Infrastructure Delivery, this stage has focused on strengthening and modernising Brook Block while the school continued operating around the works.

To give a sense of scale, the project involved around 35 tonnes of structural steel, more than 35,000 hours of work, and over 240 people from a wide range of trades working together to deliver safer, warmer and more resilient learning spaces.

Huge credit to everyone involved for the coordination it takes to deliver work like this in a live school environment, including the Ministry, Wellington Girls' College, LT McGuinness Ltd, Holmes Group, McKenzie Higham Architects and the wider project team.

The wider redevelopment programme continues, with the next stage expected to begin in Term 4.

A big milestone at the Plant Health and Environment Capability (PHEC) site in Mt Albert: structural steel is now complete for both the Workplace and Lab buildings, with upper floor slabs now being laid as the build moves into the next phase.

This is a great step forward for our client, the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), as PHEC takes shape as a major new facility supporting New Zealand’s biosecurity capability.

Across the wider project, structural steel is now under way on the Headhouse (greenhouse support building) and Greenhouse, while foundations for the outbuildings are also progressing.

Proud of the momentum the team is building alongside our delivery partners. MPI, Southbase Construction , , -works Architecture, Project Management , + Taylor , Levett Bucknall RLB , Group, , , , Commissioning & Coordination Limited, Day Acoustics and & Co

A proud moment for Crown Infrastructure Delivery and for everyone who helped bring Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre to life.

Parakiore has been named a finalist in the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall RLB Property Industry Awards 2026 in two categories: the WARREN AND MAHONEY Civic, Health and Arts Property Award and the Holmes Group Tourism and Leisure Property Award.

At 32,000m², Parakiore brings together 11 pools and nine indoor courts under one roof and is forecast to attract around two million visits each year. It’s designed so there’s genuinely something for everyone, from families and school groups to elite sport, with inclusion built in from day one.

Huge thanks to our project partners who contributed to the award entry and delivery effort: Christchurch City Council Warren & Mahoney AECOM Aurecon CPB Contractors Matapopore

And thanks to everyone across the wider project team for the perseverance and teamwork it took to complete a facility of this scale.

There are some amazing projects in the finals and we’re looking forward to seeing how it all falls on 12 June.

Great to see project momentum building at two sites🦺.

In Hawke’s Bay, foundation works are underway to prepare the site for a new 28-bed temporary inpatient unit. In Nelson, the first module structure is taking shape off-site, which is exactly the point of this approach: build as much as possible in a factory setting, then minimise time and disruption on a live hospital campus.

This is part of a nationwide programme led by Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora to deliver five standardised temporary inpatient units across Hawke’s Bay, Middlemore, Waikato, Wellington and Nelson Hospitals, adding 140 beds in total. The aim is to increase inpatient capacity quickly, ease pressure and support better patient flow, while also providing flexibility to help hospitals keep services running during wider redevelopment and strengthening work.

The units are temporary because they use a modular build that can be moved in future if needed, but they still meet the same clinical and safety standards as permanent hospital facilities and have a design life of up to 50 years. They provide immediate, much‑needed capacity now while longer-term improvements to hospital facilities continue across the network. They are one part of a wider set of solutions designed to support each site’s future service needs.

CID is leading delivery on Health New Zealand’s behalf, with Group as the design and build contractor. Nelson’s units are being manufactured by Construction Limited, while Hawke’s Bay (and the other three North Island buildings) are being manufactured by Portacom New Zealand

Work is under way on a new 28‑bed rapid‑build inpatient ward at Nelson Hospital and CID is supporting delivery, alongside Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora and Southbase Construction. Our Chief Executive, John O’Hagan, joined partners and local leaders on Friday to mark the start of works.

CID’s role is to help bring this ward into service quickly by providing delivery leadership and coordinating the work needed to build, install and commission the facility, working closely with Health New Zealand and the construction team.

The build approach combines off‑site construction with on‑site works, helping accelerate delivery while limiting disruption to day‑to‑day hospital operations.

This is one of five rapid‑build wards CID is helping to delivery nationally through the accelerated programme to increase inpatient capacity.

Thanks to everyone involved on the day, including Nelson Mayor Hon Dr Nick Smith and Health Minister Simeon Brown MP.
