Construction is charging ahead at the Wastewater Treatment Plant!

▪️The odour bed refurbishment has reached the halfway mark. The team has removed existing materials and started rebuilding the bed.

▪️Over the next couple of weeks, we'll take one of our four rectangular aeration tanks offline, with the remaining three tanks continuing to operate. This is being done to ensure the team can safely install pipework alongside the tank as part of the activated sludge plant project.

▪️️Midge monitoring is now into its second month for this season, with numbers continuing to remain low. We're keeping a close eye on the situation, with additional traps (shown in photo below) now installed

Interested in helping protect and nourish biodiversity in Ōtautahi Christchurch? 🌿🐝

'Urban Naturing' is the theme of the next Christchurch Conversation, a programme of free events by Te Putahi Centre for Architecture and City Making.

Director Jessica Halliday says Christchurch’s native flora and fauna are integral parts of this place and people – special and unique.

“Yet more than 4000 of our species are under threat of extinction so we want to look at the scale of the problem in our city, and how we turn the tide, band together and manage the threats to these taonga so that we can ensure an Ōtautahi where all living things flourish”
