🐟🐬🐳🐋It's Sea Week!! 🐟🐬🐳🐋

This week we’re celebrating the incredible moana that sustains our communities, our wildlife, and our way of life. From the tiniest plankton to the mightiest tōhora (whales), every part of our marine environment plays a vital role.
✨ Seaweek is all about:
🔹 Exploring our oceans
🔹 Learning how to protect marine life
🔹 Taking action to reduce pollution
🔹 Celebrating the beauty and power of te moana
Whether you're heading to the beach, joining a local event, or simply making ocean-friendly choices at home, every action helps.

🌿 Kauri Protection 🌿

DOC is on site at the Northland Field Days alongside our partners Te Roroa, with the Kauri Protection Education Trailer on display.

Bring the kids along to try the VR headsets for a virtual journey through our kauri forests and learn how we can all play a part in protecting these taonga species from kauri dieback.

Nau mai, haere mai — come down, say hi, and kōrero with our teams about the mahi happening across the district.

Kauri Coast Doc is on site at the Field Days alongside our partners Te Roroa - nau mai, haere mai, come down and say hi if you’re nearby!

Take the opportunity to kōrero with both organisation about the mahi happening across our district.

Make sure to chat with the Ngā Manga Atawhai kaimahi about their kaupapa and the opportunities they have available supporting the Taiao and Communities.

We have the Kauri Protection Education Trailer on display, get the kids to have a go with the VR headsets while you’re here.

Lastly keep an eye out for our free giveaways over the next few days - we’ll see you there!

On Wednesday 11th of June our rangers got a very special opportunity to release a kiwi back into the wild. The kiwi, a juvenile female named Tiaki, has spent three weeks at the Bird Recovery Center in Whangarei after being found injured. Now fully recovered, Tiaki was released at Trounson Park where she can continue to thrive.
