Stay safe when you’re catching the bus this winter! 🛡️❄️

It's dark and cold in the mornings and nights, so it’s important to stay safe – especially when it’s frosty.

Here are our top winter bus tips:

👋📱 Wave down the driver with your phone screen on (don’t use the torch function – it may blind our drivers).

🚶🏻‍♀️Take care when walking — footpaths may be slippery.

🤙 Don’t rush! Leave a few minutes early to catch the bus.

✊ Get a grip — avoid slippery shoes.

👀 Look where you’re going. Put down your phone.

Stay safe and visible (and warm) this winter! 😊

Dunedin’s growing electric bus fleet is going to be in safe AND trailblazing hands! 🙌⚡

A huge congratulations to Go Bus Dunedin technician Lily Davies, who last year made history as the first woman in New Zealand to complete MITO New Zealand's Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 5) — essentially the ‘Master’s Degree’ of the heavy vehicle mechanical world! 👏

With more electric buses scheduled to operate on many Dunedin routes this October, Lily is diving straight into specialised electric vehicle (EV) technology training to help finetune our public transport network to a greener future. 🌿🔋

An awesome achievement and a great example of where hard work, initiative and a willingness to learn can take you. Well done Lily! 😁

📢 Calling all local legends! 📢

Applications for Kinetic’s 2026 Moving Communities Fund are now open, with $160,000 going to grassroots organisations. 🙌

Go Bus New Zealand, which operates many of our Orbus bus routes in Dunedin, is part of Kinetic NZ.

Kinetic is committing to grants of up to $10,000 and in-kind support for not-for-profits, sporting clubs, and schools in the communities where we operate.

Since 2024, the fund has supported 65 community projects ranging from supporting childhood literacy programs and family violence awareness, to funding accessibility research on transport journeys not taken in New Zealand and getting high visibility vests to students on rural roads.

Kinetic is particularly looking for organisations that champion youth and disadvantaged groups, and whose work aligns with our commitment to sustainability, accessibility and inclusion.
