Elephant Rocks

Elephant Rocks The Elephant Rocks are situated half an hour inland from Oamaru, near Duntroon, on private farmland. They are large rocks made of Limestone.

The Elephant Rocks are a collection of large weathered limestone rocks. These rock formations vary in size from 1 - 10 metres and are naturally scattered around farmland.

Change has been happening over the last week at the Elephant rocks car park. Due to the high volumes of visitors an upgrade to the carpark surface is being done by the landowners.
The topsoil has been removed and a base layer of gravel has been laid and heavy rolled. The final top layer of gravel is yet to be finished this next week.
The landowners thank you for your patience while this upgrade is completed. The rocks are still open to view but please stay to the path and keep clear of all machinery at all times.
