Wildlife Foxton Trust Education by Example - delivering ecological and environmental education Sessions last at least 90 minutes.

We continue to grow our environmental education centre having relocated down to Foxton Beach, highlighting the immense taoanga at the Papangio Te Wharangi Manawatū Estuary. We provide a citizen science experience on estuarine health with the Marine Metre Square programme from Otago University Marine Centre, as well as mini Bioblitz data collections on the unique fauna and flora of this area. We gr

ow dune and estuarine plants offsite from our current centre for community planting days, as well as to support restoration of the Coastal Dune systems here at the Beach. We do school and activity/seniors group bookings at low cost - needing at least two week's notice to arrange educators for groups over 8.

What an awesome community, coming from near and far, 35 adults and children planting over 1700 Spinifex to help protect our dunes and beach community. Thanks to Horowhenua District Council and Horizons Regional Council for plants, transport, spades, kai and promotion; Green by Nature for the barbeque; Manawatū 4x4 club and NZ4Wheel Drive Assn members. A great morning despite moving lunch to the Trust due to wind starting to come back. Much more comfortable for networking and chatting without sand in the sausages!

A reminder about tomorrow's community planting day at Foxton Beach.

This is a really good way to contribute to our community, teach the kids about the importance of our dune systems, and give back to something that gives so much to us.

There will be a sausage sizzle provided at the end. Just a reminder also, BYO spades and tools if you do have them. We will have some spades and gloves available for those who need them.

Awesome mahi of 10 people and 1 photographer got 350 plants in. This coming Wednesday at 8.30 we are looking for help to put in the last 150. Thank you Horizons Regional Council.
