Designed to last decades. Not seasons.

Fast fashion exists on the idea that you will want something new next year. NZ Charly exists on the opposite idea. That you will still be reaching for this piece in ten years and it will still be worth reaching for.

The fibres get softer with wear. The knit holds its shape. The construction has no weak points where it was cut and sewn back together, because it was never cut or sewn in the first place.

This is where your jumper comes from.

Auckland. A factory close enough that I can drive there and watch it come off the machine myself. That was a deliberate choice. Being close to manufacturing means I can see the work, know the people doing it, and catch anything that is not right before it reaches you.

Every piece is knitted whole on a WholeGarment machine. No cutting, no sewing, no off-cuts on the factory floor. The garment arrives complete. Nothing wasted.

The people making your knitwear are skilled. They are fairly paid. They are proud of what they produce. That matters to me every time I place an order.

The piece you invest in once deserves a little care.

Here is everything you need to know to keep an NZ Charly knit looking exactly like the day it arrived.

Hand wash in cool water with a wool-friendly detergent. Never hang it to dry. Lay it flat. Fold it to store, not on a hanger. And never put it in the tumble dryer.

Natural fibres like merino and possum down actually get softer with wear. The more you wear it, the better it gets. That is the opposite of most things.

For every NZ Charly jumper sold, a native New Zealand tree is planted.

Not as a marketing campaign. Not as an offset. Just because if you are going to make things here, you should probably give something back to here.

New Zealand has lost a significant amount of its native bush. Native trees support the birds, the insects, the ecosystems that make this place what it is. Planting them back is slow work. We are glad to be part of it.

Every person who buys an NZ Charly piece is part of that too.

ZQ-certified merino. New Zealand possum down. Cashmere. Silk, and more.

Every fibre in an NZ Charly piece was chosen for a reason. Not because it is fashionable. Because it performs, lasts, and comes from a supply chain we can actually look in the eye.

ZQ certification means the merino is grown to strict standards of animal welfare, land management and social responsibility. You can trace it.

Possum down is lighter than cashmere and warmer than merino. It also comes from managing a pest species that threatens our native birds. Using the fibre means nothing is wasted.

Cashmere and silk add the softness and drape that makes a piece feel like nothing else.

Lighter than cashmere. Warmer than merino. And exclusive to New Zealand.

Possum down is the reason people stop you on the street.

It comes from the brushtail possum, which is actually a pest species here in New Zealand. Managing the possum population protects our native birds and bush. Using the fibre means nothing is wasted and the farming has a genuine conservation purpose.

That is the kind of thing that matters to us when we choose what goes into a piece.

For years, strangers would stop me on the street to ask about my jumper.

Not occasionally. Consistently. People would reach out and touch the fabric before they had even introduced themselves.

That jumper was one I made during my fashion degree. A possum merino blend I had been quietly wearing, washing, sleeping in, and living in ever since.

I wore it herding sheep on my mum's lifestyle block in Gisborne. I wore it on hikes in the rain, covered in mud. I wore it to coffee the next morning and nobody could tell the difference.

That was not accidental. That was the point.

NZ Charly exists because I wanted other people to own something that feels like that. Made here, from fibres worth knowing about, by people I can actually see doing the work.
