HB Williams Memorial Library is proud to support the community library at Te Puna Manaaki a Rautaupare, Wharekahika, where a community of avid readers has a real appetite for books and a growing need for resources within their hapori.

Their collection, made up of generously donated titles from locals and visitors, is clearly well-loved, well-used and valued by the community. However, their remote location can make accessing the latest publications a challenge.

We hope our visit today as part of The Rural Support Roadshow will help refresh and expand their collection, bringing new stories, knowledge and reading opportunities to their community 📚❤️

Because everyone deserves access to books, no matter how remote their community may be!

📚 On the Bright side - Library entrance change – starting today

From today, Monday 28 September, the Peel Street entrance at HB Williams Memorial Library is emergency exit only. Please use our Bright Street entrance to come in.

This is a six-month trial, running until 30 March 2027. It's about keeping the library safe and welcoming for everyone, visitors and staff alike.

What this means for you:
➡️ Enter and exit through the Bright Street entrance. Just follow the signs.
➡️ In an emergency, the Peel Street doors will still work as an exit.

We'll be checking in on how the trial is going throughout, and your feedback helps shape what happens next.

Free Legal Information Sessions at the Library

Have you ever wondered:
• Do I need a will?
• What is an Enduring Power of Attorney, and when should I set one up?
• What happens to family land when ownership spans generations?
• How are estates managed after someone passes away?
• What are my rights at work?
• Where can I get help with a legal issue before it becomes a bigger problem?

The HB Williams Memorial Library and Tairāwhiti Community Law Centre are hosting a series of free legal information sessions this October and November.

These sessions are designed to help our community understand common legal issues that affect many whānau across Tairāwhiti, including matters that are especially relevant for older people, rural communities, landowners, and families planning for the future.

Sessions include:
• Wills & Enduring Powers of Attorney
• Māori Land
• Estates & Family Law
• Employment & Criminal Law

Come along, learn more, and ask questions in a welcoming environment. If you need personal legal advice, Tairāwhiti Community Law also offers free appointments.
