Join us for our Mātauranga Connections Evening on Tuesday 24th March at 5:30pm, a great opportunity to gain a clear understanding of how our Mātauranga and Connections programmes work together to support your child’s learning journey.
Throughout the evening, you will rotate through a series of short presentations showcasing Numeracy, Literacy, PE/Health, and Connections, giving you insight into our innovative approach and what this looks like in practice.
Our Board will also be present, gathering valuable whānau voice to help shape the future direction and strategic planning of Ilminster Intermediate.
We warmly encourage all whānau to attend, connect with staff, and be part of our shared commitment to being Simply the Best.

Ilminster is conducting a lockdown exercise. This is how you will be notified in the first attendance, should a lockdown occur at the school. We’re excited to kick off our 2026 Competitive Swimming Sports — a great morning of fun, competition, and participation in the pool!

📅 Date: 13 February 2026
⏰ Time: 9:00am – 11:00am
📍 Location: Ilminster Intermediate Pool

Entries will be taken on the day (open to all students).

Age groups include Year 7 and Year 8 boys and girls, with events across freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and medley (50m & 100m).

Come along, give it a go, and show our Simply the Best spirit — Positive, Safe, Inclusive, Responsible, and Respectful. Whānau are welcome to come along and support!

We look forward to seeing our swimmers in action! 💙

🍎 MEET THE TEACHER EVENING 🍎
We are excited to welcome our whānau to the school for our Meet the Teacher evening! This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with staff, enjoy some kai, and learn more about your child’s learning journey for the year.

Here is what we have planned:

🍔 5:00 PM – Welcome & Kai
Head over to the Main Courtyard / Pool Area to kick off the night!
BBQ: Grab a sausage and a juicey and mingle with our team.
Pool Open: The pool will be open and supervised by our Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Meet the Staff: Teachers will be roaming around for informal chats.

Student Leaders: Come to the gym for a brief welcome. Our student leaders will be available to guide you to the right areas to meet your centre teachers.

🏫 5:30 PM – Centre Presentations
We will begin with a Centre Overview before splitting into individual classes. This is the best time to discuss daily routines, class expectations (Treaty), and communication.

Challenge Centre: Gym
Scitech Centre: Hall
Edge Centre: Edge
Expressive Centre: Library

📚 6:15 PM – Matauranga Session
Join us in the School Hall for quick, focused presentations (max 10 mins each) on our core curriculum areas:

Literacy: Led by Mrs Ferris and the literacy team.
Math: Led by Mātua Tom and the numeracy team.
PE / Health: Led by Mātua Rikki and the PE team.
Connections: Led by Kōka Andrea and team.

The evening will wrap up with a Q&A session at 7:00 PM and conclude at 7:15 PM.

🎉 Happy New Year, Ilminster whānau! 🎉
We hope you have all enjoyed a safe and relaxing break and are feeling refreshed for the year ahead. As we look forward to the start of 2026, here are a few important dates to note: our office and uniform shop will be open on 22–23 January (9am–2pm) and 27 January (9am–3pm), with new enrolments welcome. Term One begins with Year 8 students on 28 January, Year 7 students on 29 January, and our whole-school pōwhiri on 30 January as we officially welcome new students and staff.

We cannot wait to see you all soon as we begin another year of being Simply the Best 💙

Simply the Best! We have some awesome whānau doing awesome things in our community!

A hunting trip for two Gisborne boys and their dad organised by a Tairāwhiti company has benefited those in need in the community.
