On Saturday firefighters from across the motu participated in the Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge, climbing the Sky Tower to raise money for Blood Cancer NZ ❤️

Puna is one of our newest additions to the BFT Gisborne crew, coming in with a strong background in straight weights and a fresh perspective on training 💪

It didn’t take long for him to get hooked on the BFT vibe — the energy, the community, and the way we train. Now he’s bringing that same energy to the floor every single session 🙌

By day, he’s shaping young minds teaching tamariki, and somehow still shows up ready to bring the hype, the laughs, and the motivation to every class 🔥

Smashing his own PB and bringing home the National Accolade of “Rookie of the Year” for 2026.

Big Acknowledgement To Puna, Jocelyn and Dardie for Competing in the UFBA North Island Firefighter Challenge over the weekend. In Havelock North
No placements but definitely an amazing experience for them all, running in a team relay, tandem( Dardie and Puna) and Dardie setting his Individual PB by beating the challenge for the first time.
They were accompanied by a Cohort consisting of members from neighbouring brigades. Robin Eastland Volunteer Fire Brigade , Grace Tokomaru Bay, Rob, Liz and Riaan Manutūkē Volunteer Fire Brigade representing their families, communities and the East Coast Region. East Coast Provincial Fire Brigades Association Tairāwhiti - Fire and Emergency NZ
A few of them are doing it all over in 3 weeks, at Nationals in Wellington keep an eye for them.
