Happy Sunday whānau and friends!

Last week we enjoyed a fabulous visit from the Education Review Office (ERO) and couldn't be more proud of our MKids, Staff, Board and Whanau.

From "whoa to go" our visitors were treated to our Mangapapa Magic!

The below pics capture just a snippet of what they saw; some of our MKids sharing their maths learning and being able to confidently talk about the maths learning that they were most proud of.

When asked to use a word(s) to describe our school, here's what they said. "Aroha, helpful, fun, awesome, manaful, supportive, REACH, kind, lots of opportunities, lots of learning, busy, manaakitanga, whānau, learning can be fun, the BEST, caring, we try to be "Better than Before", excellent, great teachers and everyone helps us." Brought tears to our eyes as these were said completely void of teacher input!

💯Mangapapa Proud!💙💚

What an epic display of Netball today from these amazing MKids! 🏐

They all played with heart and mana, leaving it all out there on the courts. 💙💚
Their REACH values were shining just as the sun was for most of the day!

Mangapapa Mana came 3rd place overall, after smashing through pool play with big wins. 🥉
We met Central in the Semi Finals and after a goal for goal game, they pipped us at the post with a couple of two pointers.

An outstanding effort from our MKids! 🙌🏻 💙💚

Mangapapa Toa had 4/5 wins from pool play and after crossovers, came away in 7th place out of 18 teams! What a massive effort, with many of these players never having been to Fast 5 before! 👏
A huge thank you to Sam and Molly for stepping in to support this team! 🙌🏻

Thanks to all the whānau who cheered our kids on from the sidelines!

We are beyond proud of our Fast 5 Superstars! ⭐️

Mrs Burgess🏐

*A huge mihi to Mrs Burgess for coaching the Mana team and for all of her co-ordinating efforts too.🤗

Kia ora whanau & friends.

Tomorrow we look forward to welcoming the Education Review Office (ERO) to Mangapapa School. The team will be with us from Wednesday morning through to Thursday afternoon, and we are excited to share our kura with them.

Mangapapa is a strong kura. That strength is built through our people, our teachers, support staff, and leadership, who bring care, commitment, and high expectations to their work every day. In a time of ongoing change in education, we remain clear in our purpose: to develop the total MKid, ensuring our MKids are supported to succeed academically, socially, culturally, and emotionally.

Central to this is our mahi tahi, powerful partnerships, with parents and whānau. When school and home work in true partnership, our MKids flourish. These relationships are not an addition to our mahi, they are fundamental to it, and to the continued growth and success of our kura, Mangapapa School!

This visit is an opportunity to showcase what we do well, while also engaging in honest reflection about the next steps we have identified. It is not about performance, but about confidently and authentically sharing who we are and what we stand for.

We are proud of our kura, and proud of what we achieve together. So with that in mind, we say to our ERO visitors "Nau mai, haere mai - welcome to our place." And, what a place it is!💙💚

Nga mihi
Paul Sadler

Kia ora Parents and Whānau,

It was wonderful to begin this short week with our MKid Celebration Assembly. One of the things I love most about these assemblies is the way we recognise and celebrate our MKids in many different ways. Success looks different for every child, and these assemblies provide an opportunity for all of our tamariki to experience their own piece of the success pie.

Equally special are the personalised comments written by our kaiako/teachers. These thoughtful reflections acknowledge each child’s unique strengths, growth, effort, and contribution to our kura. They are genuine taonga that our MKids and their whānau can treasure, often capturing moments and achievements that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Thank you to our staff for the care and thought they put into these acknowledgements, and congratulations to all of our MKids who were recognised this week. We are proud of each and every one of you. 💙💚

Kia ora Mangapapa School parents and whānau,

This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading culturally responsive educators.

Janelle’s message is both inspiring and deeply authentic. Through her powerful personal story and wealth of experience, she challenges, encourages, and connects with people in a way that stays with you long after the event has finished.

Her whakaaro will engage your mind, touch your heart, and leave you reflecting on the difference we can all make in the lives of our tamariki and young people.

If you can make it along, I highly encourage you to do so. You won’t be disappointed.

"Come down to Kiwa Pools on Sundays at 9am and give Water Polo a go!"

Being a strong swimmer is helpful but definitely not necessary, half the pool is shallow so beginners are more than welcome. Water polo is an international Olympic sport that is growing fast in New Zealand, and the opportunities are endless.

Train with Coach Aggie from UCLA Women’s Water Polo, alongside local Gisborne Boys’ High talent Sammy and Diego.

Your first session is free, so grab your mates and come give it a go!
