🌟Room of the Week!🌟

We have a beautiful new Library and we want everyone to enjoy it! 😁

This week we feature Jaide's favorite room: the West Coast Room!
In addition to beautiful views of Mount Cook on a clear day, the West Coast Room is a quiet study space full of local history resources and materials. It also hosts current local government documents so you can have a voice and keep yourself informed about what happens in our district 😁

🕒We are altering the Greymouth Library opening hours from this weekend (October 17), to better meet the needs of the community.

🔹Our current library hours are:
9.30 to 5pm except Wednesdays which are 9.30am to 7pm; Saturdays 9.30am to 12.30pm

🔹Our new library hours:
9am to 5pm except Wednesdays which will be 10am to 7pm; Saturdays 10 to 2.

We believe this will better meet the community need.

Chapter One café is also changing its hours to match, except for late night Wednesdays, when it will close at 5pm.

In August, there were 9599 people through the library’s doors, compared to 5846 in the old library.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week – It's all about Belonging! 💚

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the things we belong to — our communities, our connections, and the places where we feel like ourselves. 🌿

We’d love to invite the whole community to get involved! 🎨🖍️ Individuals: participate in our interactive display and share what truly counts with others!
Community Groups: bring along your posters for groups that offer a sense of belonging, and we’ll display them next to our display.

Let’s fill our space with creativity, connection, and positive messages about mental wellbeing. Every poster is a chance to share aroha and a chance for everyone to belong! 💚

Bloom Hearing Specialists are coming to the Library on the 21st to offer free hearing checks and give talks about hearing health!

Lizzi Tremayne Author will be at the Library from 11am tomorrow (Thursday 8 October)!

Lizzi writes in several genres, from historical fiction in Utah (California) to New Zealand!

She explored the Denniston plateau yesterday to gather information for her upcoming historical fiction novel 😉

If you want to support a local writer from New Zealand and a writer who writes about local history, don't miss the chance and join us tomorrow from 11am 😁

Books will be available for purchase and signing.
