🐄🐑 Kiwi Team Trip to Kaipaki Farmyard 🐇🐐

Our Kiwi Team had a fantastic day out visiting Kaipaki Farmyard as part of our science learning about animal ecosystems!

Tamariki loved getting up close with lots of different animals, learning about the environments they live in and what they need to survive. Some of the highlights were getting to hold some of the smaller pets and also feed the farm animals. There were plenty of smiles and excitement throughout the day!

In the afternoon, we headed to Claudelands Playground, where tamariki had a blast exploring the playground equipment, climbing, playing and having lots of fun with their friends.

It was a wonderful day full of hands-on learning and new experiences. A big thank you to all of the whānau that attended and everyone who helped make this special trip possible.

A special visitor in Room 13 & 14🐶

On Wednesday, Akomanga 13 and Akomanga 14 were very lucky to enjoy not one, but two special treats as part of our learning programme.
To support our learning about the letter of the week, "d", we had a surprise visit from Ms Hartley's gorgeous toy poodle dog, named Marlow. The tamariki were very excited to meet a real dog and were excellent listeners as they gathered together on the mat to learn more about her.
Marlow happily snuggled into Ms Hartley on the couch while she shared lots of interesting information about her. The children learned about Marlow's favourite treats, the activities she enjoys, how old she is, and when her birthday is. There were lots of smiles, curious faces, and thoughtful questions as the tamariki listened and made connections to our letter of the week.
After learning all about Marlow, the children patiently lined up and took turns gently patting her. We were so proud of how respectful and caring the tamariki were. They used soft hands, calm voices, and showed kindness towards our special furry visitor. Marlow was very relaxed and seemed to enjoy all the attention she received.
Following Marlow's visit, we had our second treat of the day. As part of a language experience, the children enjoyed a small handful of Doritos. We talked about what they looked like, sounded like when we crunched them, and most importantly, what they tasted like! This provided a fantastic opportunity for the tamariki to develop their oral language skills by sharing their thoughts and describing their experience using a range of words.
Marlow was also able to enjoy a small Dorito chip, which delighted the children. They thought it was very funny and exciting to see that Marlow seemed to enjoy them too!
The experience inspired some wonderful learning afterwards. A small group of children in Akomanga 14 drew detailed pictures of Marlow and practised writing their names. Other tamariki used the experience as inspiration for their writing, creating sentences about meeting Marlow and tasting Doritos. Many children wrote about how much they enjoyed the chips and how Marlow liked them too.
Experiences like these help children make meaningful connections between real-life events and their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and engagement throughout our special visit.
A huge thank you to Ms Hartley for bringing Marlow in to visit us. The tamariki absolutely loved meeting her, learning about her, and sharing a little treat with her. We are so glad Marlow enjoyed her visit to Akomanga 13 and Akomanga 14, and we hope she comes back to see us again sometime! 🐶❤️🐾

Today your child will bring home an order form. If needed, spare forms are available from your child’s teacher, or you can write the order on paper. Please return the completed form with correct money to your child’s teacher before school. If you don’t have cash, you can take the order form to the office and pay via eftpos.

🌺 Pasifika Fiafia 2026 🌺

Kirikiriroa’s annual Pasifika Fiafia Festival is on Saturday 7th November, at The Pā, Waikato University.

The festival is all about bringing Pasifika communities together through culture, music, dance, food, storytelling and connection. This special occasion provides a space where tamariki and whānau can celebrate their Pasifika identities, share their cultures and feel a strong sense of belonging.

All whānau are welcome to attend this free event.

🎽 Sports Uniforms 🎽

If you still have a sports uniform at home and your child is not playing a Term 4 sport, please return this to school tomorrow (Friday 16th Oct).

We have a large number of tamariki registered to play sport in Term 4 and we need to have uniform for them. If your child is playing a Term 4 sport you can hold on to the t-shirt but please return the skirt/shorts from winter sport.

👒 Pōtae/Hat Reminder 👒

It’s been lovely seeing everyone back at school this week! Our tamariki are excited for Term 4 and have been making the most of the warmer weather, enjoying lots of fun in the playground. It has been great to see so many tamariki wearing their Pukete School pōtae (hat).

A friendly reminder that hats are compulsory in Term 1 and Term 4. Students have one week of leniency to remember to bring their pōtae. After this, anyone without a hat is required to play in the shade, under the junior or senior canopy. Hats are available to purchase from the school office for $17.00.
