A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Mathathon. Together we raised an incredible $7300! 🎉

Congratulations to all of our prize winners. Thanks to the support of the PTA, we were able to purchase 70 amazing prizes, resulting in many happy tamariki across our kura.

Ka mau te wehi to all our learners for the awesome maths practise they put in. We are so proud of you all 💛

Waikato Book Battle📚

Last Friday, Pukete School was proudly represented by two teams at the annual Waikato Book Battle, an exciting competition where schools from across the region go head-to-head to answer questions based on a selection of six challenging and engaging books, all in the hope of being crowned Book Battle Champions!
In the lead-up to the event, our two teams worked hard to read and study the selected books, memorising important characters, events, facts and details to prepare themselves for the big day.

Both teams represented our kura with pride putting in a fantastic effort throughout the competition. Our Year 6 team came incredibly close to making the podium, finishing in an impressive 4th place!

A huge congratulations to both of our teams , your hard work, teamwork and love of reading made us incredibly proud. Ka pai to mahi!

Yesterday our Co-construction leadership team headed over to Awakeri School in Whakatane. Awakeri School is doing some amazing mahi, as part of their involvement with Te Aka Mātauranga. Te Aka Mātauranga is an evidence-based approach that focuses on raising the engagement, academic outcomes and attendance of students from Year 1-13 in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, using a model underpinned by the science of learning, cognitive science and quality pedagogy. This programme is led by Simon Akroyd and his team, and has been selected by the Ministry of Education to pilot in certain schools in 2027.

Yesterday, we were fortunate to see this in action, visiting six classrooms across various year levels. We also spent time with Simon and Louise, Acting Principal of Awakeri School, discussing their journey, the work behind the scenes, and how they reached their current position.
There were some great questions and discussions, and most importantly, the visit reinforced for us as a leadership team that we are absolutely on the right track. In fact, we’re further along than we initially realised, which was incredibly reassuring.

Thank you to Simon, Sara and Louise for your time yesterday. We really appreciated it. We look forward to keeping in contact with you regarding our journey with the Science of Learning at Pukete School.
