Looking forward to Hawke’s Bay farmers finally being able to access this technology.

National’s Harnessing Biotech Plan will:
End the effective ban on gene editing (GE) and genetic modification (GM) in New Zealand.
Create a dedicated regulator to ensure safe and ethical use of biotechnology.
Streamline approvals for trials and use of non-GE/GM biotech in line with other OECD countries.

“New Zealand has already created genetically modified grasses in labs which would significantly reduce our agricultural emissions, but our restrictive, outdated rules currently mean no GE crops can be grown in New Zealand. GE crops can also be used to resist pests without the use of pesticides, keeping waterways clean.

What a wonderful 3 days at the HB A&P show. Christopher Luxon, Louise Upston and the Tukituki and Napier teams loved meeting so many people to listen to their views, concerns and ideas on how to take New Zealand forward again. Go the Bay!

National’s Police spokesman, Mark Mitchell noted that:

“In August, Police raided a drug rehabilitation centre run by the Ahikaa Trust where they found guns, ammunition, methamphetamine and bundles of cash. Today, Police also raided Nga Kete Wananga bail facility and found similar items.

“The fact that bail rehabilitation facilities are being used as gang pads where Police are recovering illegal fi****ms, drugs and cash is a serious failure of our justice system.”

I wonder how the $2.7 million Labour gave to the Hawke’s Bay mob run rehab centre is being spent? It should be cracking down on these organisations- not offering them handouts.

Andrew Little says that 400 nurses have applied for a work visa - but in reality just 1/5 are overseas. The rest are already here and just switching visas.

The new "streamlined" visa is delivering fewer nurses than when the borders were closed.

The government must immediately place nurses on the fast track straight to residence pathway to attract the migrant nurses we desperately need.
