18 Cadets were put through their 8-hour basic first aid course valid for two years with the Red Cross August 15th.

Thank you to our sponsor Royston Health Trust for your continued support. The Royston Health Trust have supported 11 Squadron for three years now training over 55 current and past cadet and staff.

The First aid training these cadets receive could help save a life of anyone in the community. The training could also prevent an injury getting worse. As a Cadet Forces Officer we hear from Parents of cadets that have had to use their first aid training after something goes wrong. Parents have seen the benefits of the training first hand.

Acting Flying Officer Dana Eastham was presented with her parchment at Air Force Base Ohakea by Central Area Commander, Warrant Officer Steve Main.
A/FGOFF Eastham is the Unit Commander of Number 11 Squadron (District of Hastings) Air Training Corps.
Dana joined 11 SQN in February 2009 as a young cadet. Dana continued with the cadet forces rising up through the ranks to Under Officer in 2016.
Dana took a few years off to spread her wings but returned to 11 SQN as a Supplementary Staff Member in 2020.
Dana started the process to becoming a Commissioned Officer and held the rank of Officer Cadet.
Dana attended and passed the Officer eight day, intensive Commissioning Course at Air Force Base Ohakea 29 June 2025, achieving the rank of Pilot Officer.
Pilot Officer Dana Eastham took over the position of Unit Commander of 11 SQN in November 2025.
Dana was promoted to Acting Flying Officer in May 2026.

We would like to thank A/FGOFF Eastham for her many years of commitment to 11 SQN and The New Zealand Cadet Forces.

Hello all the supporters of 11 SQN ATC.
Attached is a photo dump of 11 SQN competing in the 2026 Skyhawk competition at Air Force base Ohakea. 6-9 June. First, I have to add we are incredibly proud of this team. Three cadets have only been at 11 SQN since this February 2026. Three more cadets have never attended the Skyhawk competition before. We have an awesome team designed to upskill and compete for future competitions.
The competition was tough competing with more experienced teams. We did take out 1st equal in DFTT, (Dry Fire Train and Test) fi****ms training. 2nd place in First Aid. We did not place in the top three in any other section. The final placings will come out in the coming weeks.
I have to note. CDT Wapp was redirected to 10 SQN to make up 10 SQNS numbers. CDT Wapp one the Frisbee golf event as the only person to complete this task. CDT Wapps team also took out the Mana award and a couple of other awards.
Thank you to the photo team for the pics. Thank you to the Officers and Central area Ohakea based staff that put this competition together. Thank you to the people involved that accommodated , and fed 130 cadets and roughley 40 staff for the four days at Air Force Base Ohakea.

The competition is over and it's time to chill out before lights out.
Of course cadets gravitate to aircraft. There have been plenty of them buzzing around throughout the competition.
