Crew: Pilot Nat, CCFP Cornelius and ACO Julian were called out to IXM's first winch rescue yesterday where a patient had sustained a knee injury in the Ruahine Ranges.🚁

Without the rescue helicopter and due to the remote location and steep terrain the patient would have faced a 7 hour walk out, but thanks to IXM and our crew they were delivered to Hawke's Bay Hospital's Emergency Department in 12 minutes.

RECENT MISSION UPDATE 🚁

Yesterday our crew: Pilot Bill, CCFP Jack and ACO Wayne were tasked to Raupunga to airlift a male patient who had suffered injuries after falling from a horse.

St John paramedics were already on scene and helped treat the patient, who we assessed and transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

It follows an ATV quad bike rollover in Central Hawke's Bay on Tuesday evening where our crew transported a female patient to hospital with moderate injuries. St John and FENZ also in attendance.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Lindsay Foundation for their continued support of the Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust. ❤️🚁

For several years now, the Lindsay Foundation has supported our Paediatric Missions, helping us be there for some of the youngest and most vulnerable patients in our community when they need us most.

This year, they have generously donated towards Paediatric Missions and we couldn’t be more grateful for their ongoing commitment to helping us save lives across Hawke’s Bay.

Thank you to the Lindsay Foundation for believing in the work we do and helping ensure our helicopter can be there when families need us most. 💙

🚁 We’ve been chosen for Z’s Good in the Hood at both Z Wairoa and Z Taradale!!

From 18 August to 14 September, Z customers can vote in-store for the community groups they’d like to see receive a share of the $5,000 community fund at each participating Z station.

Every vote could help us continue providing lifesaving rescue helicopter services across Hawke’s Bay - helping get our crews, equipment and helicopter to people when they need us most. 🚁❤️

So, if you’re filling up at one of our participating Z stations, please cast your vote for Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust!

Every vote counts, and every vote helps keep our helicopter flying. 🙌

Last week was a proud milestone for the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust and the community that keeps us flying.

Joined by Associate Health Minister Hon Casey Costello, we officially unveiled the new Airbus H145 Wallace Foundation Rescue Helicopter.

“This aircraft is a game-changer for our patients and crews,” says HBRHT CEO Andy Quayle. “It's fantastic to have it operational and ready to respond 24/7 to support the Hawke's Bay community.”

IXM is the most recent new helicopter to enter service under a nationwide upgrade, jointly funded by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and ACC. At the unveiling, Associate Health Minister Hon Casey Costello announced further government investment to continue replacing New Zealand’s ageing emergency helicopter fleet with safer, more capable aircraft.

Also attending this milestone moment were our Air Operator partner Search and Rescue Services Limited, new Principal Sponsors Jonathan and Maree Wallace, Unison, Pan Pac Forest Products, Winter Olympics and other key supporting partners.

While the purchase of the aircraft was government-funded, it’s the generosity of our community that will help keep it flying and mission ready.

Thank you to everyone who supports us – because of you, lives are saved every day.
