Kia ora MKK family and whanau

A crate of ‘Where’s Wally’ and ‘I Spy’ books like the ones pictured went missing last year from the school library. Some of them have recently turned up at the MKK hall community library.
If anyone in the community has seen anymore of these type of books with a school bar code on the back, please drop them at the school office.
Thank you for your help.

Our Year 7/8 students have been working on a design project during their tech sessions at Hastings Intermediate.
They have been combining all the tech strands to create a table lamp. This included making the lamp cover In soft materials, making the lamp frame in hard materials and the lamp circuit in electronics.
A fantastic learning experience.
We look forward to seeing the finished project.

At our school assembly on Friday we celebrated with our families the successes of a number of children at MKK.

Miss Jackson and Ngatarawa class shared an Ocean and Continent adventure poem along with their amazing paper mache waves. This was part of their Social Sciences learning about how continents are formed.

We celebrated children from each class excelling in their learning and consistently showing our school values.
The class award winners for this week were;
• Alvaro and Meela - Explorers
• Noah and Charlie T - Ngatarawa
• Theo H and Elliot C - Whakapirau
• Willa and Harry M - Mangatahi
• Mitchell L and Havana - Kererū

We finished with our Making a Difference draw and celebrated children from each class displaying our school values.

We look forward to families joining us for our next school assembly on Friday 19 June at 215pm.

Our Year 7/8 class were fully engaged in some very high level learning today, putting their literacy and intelligence skills into practice to complete their security mission for Miss Fraser.
They worked collaboratively with their buddy to complete their clearance exam and solve the secret mission.
A fantastic application of your learning Kererū class. Well done!

Last week was Support Staff Week.
We celebrated the great work our Support Staff do at Maraekākaho School in classrooms, in the library, in our school office and around our grounds. We are very fortunate to have Jane, Jennifer, Kylie, Max, Rebecca and Sue working at MKK to support our students, teachers and families.
We held a special assembly to acknowledge each of our terrific support staff and their wonderful contributions.
Thank you for all you do for our school. You are all fantastic.
