A special day for Hawke’s Bay 💛
Today we marked a significant milestone with the ceremonial sod turn and the start of the Hawke’s Bay Cancer Centre project, bringing us one step closer to delivering radiation treatment closer to home.

We also welcomed additional investment, enabling stage two for medical oncology and haematology to be built alongside stage one, creating an integrated cancer centre for our community.

This centre will transform the experience for patients and whānau, reducing disruption, keeping people close to their support networks, and helping us meet the growing demand for cancer services now and into the future. It will also provide a modern, purpose-built environment for our teams and support the growth of a specialist cancer workforce right here in Hawke’s Bay.

💛 Alongside the sod turn, we were proud to launch our Legacy Wall. We invite you to be part of this legacy. Leave a message of hope, strength, and support for those who will receive care in the centre in the comments below. 👇 Your words will become a lasting part of the centre, helping create a place filled with care, connection, and the voices and aroha of the community it serves for years to come.

Scabies is a tiny mite that causes a very big itch! There have been reports of scabies around recently, so it's important to know the signs and how to treat it properly.

The main symptom to look out for is an itchy rash that mostly affects the arms, legs and torso. Have one already? See your healthcare provider so they can check for scabies or other conditions.

If scabies is confirmed, it can be easily treated with these steps:

✅ Treat it with a cream to kill the mites (pharmacies may offer subsidised advice and treatment)

✅ Treat everyone in your household at the same time

✅ Treat clothing and bedding in a hot wash or dryer; or by freezing or bagging

✅ Vacuum carpets, mats and sofas

✅ Remember to treat car seats too.

To make sure you get rid of the scabies mites completely, see more detailed info on how to treat them: http://spr.ly/6184BDepsY
