The Anderson Park Community Group was started by local people who want to be active in helping this community to be the best it can be. It has the Lucknow Kindergarten and Lucknow School within its boundaries and the Turi Pai Whenua Te Kohanga Reo. The local sports park in the area is also called Anderson Park and has a range of sport and recreation activities within it, from squash, tennis, a gym

The area is bounded by the Karamu Stream and the Herehere Stream, with great options for walking and cycling. The people are friendly and many are involved in formal or informal neighbourhood groups and keep an eye out for each other.

Heads up, the Havelock Library will be closed all day on Wed 26 May while they prepare for new technology to be installed.

Hastings District Libraries are installing RFID technology.

What the heck is that, you say? We've got a bit of info over here about it... http://bit.ly/RFIDisgoodforme but it's basically a big upgrade of our library equipment.

The biggest thing you'll notice is new Self Check machines. One of the final parts of the installation process is quite complex and involves removing old hardware and installation of the new. because of this it means we'll have to shut each branch as the new tech is put in.

Only one branch will be closed at a time, so you will still be able to access the other two libraries. We're apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause!

Jackie Clark created The Aunties, a grassroots charity helping women to rebuild their lives after a period of trauma. She quit her job, turning her back on her comfortable life to focus on The Aunties full-time. As Aunty in Charge she has assisted hundreds of women with material needs and emotional support. Jackie has published Her Say, giving these women a voice.

Get along to the Hastings Library on Mon 12 April to meet Jackie and hear her amazing story.
