Our Trip to Napier
By Kororā Kids (Rm 5).
We had the most fantastic morning! We left school and headed off on our adventure to visit the Kororā Sanctuary at the Napier Port.
We met Jay and Maeve's mum, Ashleigh there. Jay showed us the nesting boxes that the Kororā nest in. They will soon be laying their eggs and looking after the chicks when they hatch.
We were lucky enough to see 7 Kororā in different boxes. There are 30 nesting boxes there.
Jay had some little Kororā hidden for us to find and we all had one to keep. Lucky us!
After morning tea and some time to play at the Marine Parade playground, we went to the Aquarium where we meet Jacque who told us lots of interesting things about Kororā. We went to see Penguin Cove and we saw little Kororā swimming.
We were tired at the end of the day!
What a great morning we had.
We feel very proud to be named after these special wee birds!
