Future of Local Govt in Taranaki Survey: An Opportunity to Be Heard

Council is providing an opportunity for community members to come and speak to them on the Head Start proposals regarding the future of local government in Taranaki.

This session provides another opportunity for people to share their views and help Council understand what matters most to South Taranaki communities.

If you haven't completed the Headstart Pathway survey yet, there's still time to have your say: https://consultations.southtaranaki.com/head-start-survey/LAAAAA

Good morning everyone,

We hope you’re all staying safe and warm in today’s blustery conditions.

With strong winds affecting the district, please take extra care if you’re out and about—particularly in our public spaces. We encourage you to:

- Avoid visiting parks and reserves until conditions ease, as there is an increased risk of falling trees and branches.

- Secure any loose outdoor items around your home.

- Take extra care on the roads and drive to the conditions.

- Report any damage to public services/areas by phoning 0800 111 323.

Please also note that today’s kerbside collection has been postponed until tomorrow (Saturday 27 June). The Hāwera Transfer Station also remains closed and will be open again tomorrow with extended hours (8.30am - 5pm).

You can stay up to date with Council updates and information here or by downloading the Antenno app, which sends notifications directly to your phone.

Thanks everyone—take care out there.

Due to the extreme weather/wind gusts we are experiencing we have cancelled today's (Friday 26 June) rubbish/recycling kerbside collection service across the district. The bins will be collected tomorrow (Saturday 27 June) instead. Please have your bins out at the kerbside from 7:30am. In addition, the Hawera Transfer station will be closed today but will re-open tomorrow with extended hours. Sorry for this disruption and please take care out there!

When the water supply is restored, you may notice some temporary discolouration or cloudiness. If this occurs, run a cold tap for a short time until the water clears.

Milky or cloudy water is usually caused by air bubbles and will clear after standing for a few minutes.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
