Planting day this Sunday in Morgan’s valley, Christchurch this area serves as the backdrop for Mary had a lamb and Morgan’s Baa Baa loop. We have over 400 trees 🌲 to plant and would appreciate any assistance to restore this beautiful space back into a native regeneration habitat.

We will have spare planting spades, but recommend that you bring a spade or a grubber, sturdy shoes or Gumboots would be useful.

One more sleep 😴 to go, sunrise at 7:45 for the wow 🤩 factor. Fingers crossed for no frost so that the boardwalk isn’t an ice 🧊 rink.
Be ready for breath taking views.

Look at all these happy people enjoying Scarborough parkrun, you don’t have to run, you can jog or walk. Or if that’s not your thing then they are all looking for volunteers and they have a fabulous team of friendly and inclusive volunteers.

Celebration Sunday🎉

🤔We Celebrate Sunday why? It’s because all these new listed participants joined Scarborough parkrun event #50, celebration had by 54 first timers. Of which 13 were using their parkrun barcodes for the first time and 41 added a new parkrun venue to their list, with us at Scarborough.

😎One of these first timers stood out from the rest, Ben McGonigle running in the VM70-74 age category. Smashed the previous record by 2min36sec, finishing in 22.06min💪. An amazing 81.83% age grade percentage adding to that strong run. Ben is visiting form Ardgillan parkrun near Dublin in Ireland✈️. Completing 275 parkrun’s at Ardgillan and the current age grade record holder as well, at 22.20min.
👍Scarborough was added to his other New Zealand venue record at Broad Park. Looking at other Christchurch parkrun records, this time is very close or better than most. I wonder who’s next? Congratulations 🎊 Ben, hope to see you again soon.

😎Last week we had 25 new registrations, pushing the incredible total of team Scarborough to 593. Four new volunteers have been added to our volunteer family of 222 since event #1, almost a year ago.

Out and back course at Broad Park run tomorrow, also known as the High five 🖐️ course.

OUT AND BACK COURSE for Broad Park parkrun #39, Sat 24 June.
The boss has spoken! No, not Bruce Springsteen in this instance but George Poole, our run director and course checker for tomorrow Sat 24 June. George advises we'll be using the out-and-back course for the event as the rain has made the loop course a no go.
Even on the out-and-back there will still be plenty of puddles so wear trail shoes if you have them, and maybe some dry shoes and socks at the end for going to the Brighton Beach House!
We also still need a marshall for the turnaround point to make sure parkrun doesn't turn into ultarun for anyone if they miss the spraypaint and keep going. If you can help with that, email [email protected]
