It is with great sadness we advise of the passing of ex Hikurangi fire fighter Colleen Paratene at home yesterday morning surround by her family and loved ones .

Colleen will be remembered for her huge smile and laughter that would fill the station.

Colleen was with the Hikurangi brigade for 7 years as a fire fighter and will be missed by all of us who had the chance to be part of her life .

It was only a move out of Hikurangi for work that took Colleen away the brigade she loved and we missed having her in the back of our trucks on calls at all hours of the day and night.

Rest easy Colleen we will take it from here we love and miss you ,your Hikurangi Fire Family .

πŸ”₯ Battle of the Brigades πŸ”₯

The challenge has been laid down...

πŸš’ Kamo vs Hikurangi πŸš’

This time we're swapping hoses for airsoft and putting our teamwork, communication, and competitive spirit to the test. Airsoft is known for rewarding teamwork, tactics, and good sportsmanshipβ€”much like firefighting itself. οΏ½

Who will claim bragging rights? πŸ† Kamo? πŸ† Hikurangi?

One thing is guaranteed – there'll be plenty of laughs, a bit of friendly rivalry, and probably a few stories to tell afterwards.

Today we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all those who served and continue to serve.
On ANZAC Day, we reflect on the bravery of the ANZACs and the many men and women who have worn the uniform since. Their commitment and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Lest we forget. 🌺
