We Should Probably Introduce Ourselves 👋

We’ve been sharing our stone projects, but we thought it was probably time we actually introduced ourselves after 30+ years in the industry!

Westland Schist is a proud family-owned business, owned and operated by Jason & Ann Jones, right here on the wild and beautiful West Coast of New Zealand. 🌿⛰️

We specialise in handcrafting natural stone products sourced from the incredible landscapes around us - from local rivers and beaches to the alpine areas of the West Coast.

From paving and walling to hearths, feature pieces and landscaping, every stone we work with is completely unique - just like the landscape it comes from.

Our Story 🪨

Westland Schist started with a love for the land and a deep respect for the raw beauty of the West Coast.

Surrounded by rugged mountains, wild rivers and ancient beaches, we saw more than just stone - we saw stories waiting to be told.

What began as a small, hands-on operation has grown into a trusted name in natural stone, while still keeping the same hands-on approach we started with.

We hand-pick our stone, shape it with care, and work closely with our customers to create pieces that are genuinely one-of-a-kind.

Every stone has its own colours, textures and character, and every piece carries a little bit of the place it came from.

We’re proud to supply architects, builders, landscapers, DIYers and customers across New Zealand and around the world with natural stone that’s not only beautiful but built to last.

Whether it’s a feature wall, fire hearth, paving project or landscaping project, when you choose Westland Schist, you’re choosing a little piece of the Coast. ❤️

Rugged. Timeless. Real.

🪨 Built by nature. Crafted by us.

These garden ornaments have been shaped from Westland schist, each one a little different, each one made to sit naturally in its surroundings. From simple features to statement pieces, it’s all about working with the stone to create something that feels right in the landscape.

Natural, versatile, and built to last 🪨✨

Our flagstones are crafted from Westland schist, cut into tiles that bring the same strength and character of solid stone into a more refined, easy-to-use form. Perfect for patios, pathways, and indoor spaces 🏡, they create a clean, timeless look while still showcasing the unique texture of natural schist.

Every piece carries the colours and patterns shaped right here on the West Coast 🌿🌊
