NO SPRAY REGISTER ⚠️

Council advises all property owners and residents of the district that w**d spraying of vegetation on urban and rural roadsides is due to commence on 1 September 2026 and finish 30 June 2027.

Application for the No Spray register is for Southland District Council controlled roading network only.

W**d spraying includes the control of rural pest plants within the road reserve as well as around street signs and vegetation on footpaths and kerbs.

If you prefer to not have your frontage sprayed, please apply to Council to be added to its No Spray Register.
Applications must be accurate and clearly display exact details of the property address, boundaries, clear aerial maps and have your own contact details in case we need to contact you.

If you have multiple properties requiring to be on the register, then separate applications will be required for each property including detailed maps showing location of no spray areas.
Application does not guarantee approval. Applications forms are obtainable from:
• By visiting one of Council offices
• Downloaded from Council’s website https://www.southlanddc.govt.nz/roads-and-bridges/no-spray-register/

Application forms can be returned via:
• One of Council offices
• By email: [email protected]
• By post: Roading Administrator, Southland District Council, PO Box 903, Invercargill 9840.

Inclusion of a property on the No Spray register is conditional upon the applicant providing a complete application form with a plan showing the boundaries clearly marked “No Spray”. Applicants must control road reserve fronting their properties to a noxious w**d free state in a rural setting and ensure the footpaths and kerb lines are vegetation free for an urban setting.

Applications must be submitted to Council no later than 31 July 2026.

It only takes one to ruin it for the rest – as is evident at Dunsdale Recreation Reserve.

Someone feeling entitled to more access than everyone else has broken the rope and driven into the reserve, causing damage to the carpark and the grounds.

As a result, Matariki Forests has now decided to shut their gate on Hokonui Road at Dunsdale Reserve early to avoid any further damage.
