06.09.2023: Kaiaua Fire Training - Sturctural Fire/Search and rescue
Kia Ora koutou, we hope everyone has been well and safe. We are slowly getting some nice spring days which is lovely. Our crew at Kaiaua Fire completed a training exercise at the station which simulated a structural fire and search & resecue. This training was run by our Station Training Coordinator- Senior Firefighter Pask. Crew turned out to the “call”, had to establish water, run 2 deliveries and enter the building donned up in Breathing Apparatus to carry out a search and rescue. We had FF Laker on a branch, containing the “fire” site. FF’s Bosson, Beazley & McLaren were the BA crew who also had to manage the ECO board. FF Martin played the role of the person stuck in the building. FF’s Runga and Unasa were tasked with establishing water using the B-type pump, then moved into the pump operator role ensuring all crew had good water supply to keep everyone safe. This entire exercise was under the guidance and command of our Officer in Charge SFF Pask.
Our Group Manager and Assistant Commander Brendon Irwin attended training and shared his knowledge, guidance and great wisdom to support our crew with this training exercise. Ngā mihi for your manaaki (support) and mātauranga (knowledge) Assistant Commander Irwin.
Overall, the crew did an awesome job and all supported eachother with great communication, team work and strength. We continue to conduct these kind of trainings to ensure we are prepared and ready to serve our community. Ka mau te wehi koutou! (Awesome job everyone).
If you’re interested in checking out more of what we do, come on down to the station Wednesday nights from 5:30pm or send us a message.
