It’s been a year since we last seen you in person. We are glad that you are found and in a place of peace. We wanted to acknowledge your favourite place where you can read a book, look at the river and even hear the birds sing. We wanted to share this place with all your friends and the community. In your honour we have placed this seat so that you won’t be forgotten and that you will be remembered for your caring nature.

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you that earlier this evening police divers have located Loren in the river.

This means that the search party on Saturday has been called off.

Loren’s family has been deeply moved and will be eternally grateful for all the help and support they have received from the Kaitaia community, and those near and far. They would like to express their deepest gratitude for this.

It has been a trying time for Loren’s family, and while this provides closure on the search, they now mourn the loss of Loren, who was a much loved member of the family and will be sorely missed.

The Police dive squad arrived in Kaitaia last night and have now scoped out an area to be dived later today. The big volunteer search will go ahead tomorrow as planned. If you want to be involved, whether as a searcher or a support person, please use the button on the event post above.

We've been advised this morning that a more formal search response is coming and will involve Police divers from Friday-Saturday. We will continue our best efforts as well, and a lot of organising is going on this morning - further post on the way a bit later, but Kaitaia - you rock!!

Under different circumstances this would be a fantastic flight - Louis Pretorius has this view, on the way to do a sweep of the river at the moment. (He's not the pilot!). As locals will know, the river is very high at the moment... the third pic was taken earlier.

Another shout out to Fosters Motors (Hyundai, Nissan, Kia), Tyrezone Kaitaia and Far North Tyre Service (Carters Tyres) who are also leaving flyers in their customer’s cars today.

The more eyes we can have looking out for any possible sightings, the better. You are our army in finding Loren. Thank you so much!
