Moana Gow Pool. Hawksbury Village Lovely community run pool situated at Hawkesbury village on the corner of Truby King drive and Kennard Crescent. The pool rules are as follows;
1.

The pool does not close and is open to members year round outside of booked sessions on the timetable. All people using the pool do so at their own risk and the Moana Gow Pool Trust shall not be liable whatso ever for any death or injury resulting from the use of the swimming pool.

2. All children must be accompanied by a supervising person 16 years of age or over, who must remain at the pool at

all times.

3. Entry tags are for the exclusive use of the tag holder’s household and are NOT to be borrowed or lent.

4. No pets, food, or alcohol allowed in the pool complex.

5. Any damage or misbehavior must be noted in the book or reported.

6. No boogie boards! No balls to be thrown in the pool complex!

7. Swimming is permitted during the hours specified in the displayed timetable only.

8. The doors must remain closed at all times. Do not let others in!

9. All users must sign the attendance book and include the tag number and the number of swimmers.

10 Please ensure windows are left closed and lights are turned off when you leave. The cost to join is a $20 administration fee and $50 every quarter paid via direct debit. Contact for East Otago Swim Club; [email protected]

What an improvement!!

After a few delays we are scheduled to open on the 9th of February. The team are working hard to get us back up and running!

POOL CLOSURE - 10th - 26th January 2026

In December we shared that we had been able to secure funding to allow the pool to be resurfaced and painted and that we needed to close for this to happen. We have received generous contributions from Oceania Gold, Port Otago, Matanaka Trust, Dunedin City Council and Otago Community Trust. We would not be able to carry out this much needed work without their support.

We understand that it is very inconvenient closing the pool and we want thank you for your understanding.

John is emailing all the members. However, we would appreciate you spreading the word so that everyone is informed.

We look forward to sharing updates along the way.

I am told we are open again!! The chlorine shortage has been resolved. Happy swimming!!

For those we haven't managed to reach please share the following information!

We have some exciting news to share. We have been quietly working away behind the scenes to secure funding to allow the pool to be resurfaced and painted. We have now secured all the funds we needed to be able to get this done. We understand the timing is not perfect however it is in dire need and we have to take the dates that are available to us. The pool will need to close on the 10th of January till the 26th of January for this work to be completed. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. I will also get this information out via bulk email when I workout how to do it on GymMaster (SORRY)

Updates will be mailed out through the GymMaster door system and posted on the Moana Gow Pool Trust page. Please share this information with anyone who might be interested.

Kia ora koutou,

I have just found out the pool is closed due to a chlorine shortage. I am told the pool will reopen as soon as it arrives on truck from Dunedin. This should be hours rather than days. I will update as soon as it is reopened, we expect it to be tomorrow afternoon at the latest. EDIT 23/12/25 I am told we are open again!!

A FEW CHANGES TO NOTE ...

Swim club has extended their Tuesday booking by a week, now finishing on the 9th.

There is a private function booked on Saturday 6th of December 3-5pm

Karitane School will have their last swim on the 11th of December.

This is your friendly reminder that lane swimming 7-8am and 7-8pm is for any members who want to lane swim. 12-1pm is ADULT only lane swimming.

These times do not change, this is every single day of the year.

The shower drain is repaired but not ready for use yet. I saw what was blocking it. A match box car, a plastic fish about 15cm long and a small ball of hair, but I think the real problem was the toys down the drain!! The drain will have a non removable grate now, but don't let your kids play unattended in the men's shower, or the same expensive thing will happen.
