We’re just two ordinary locals, two dads to young kids, that became best friends 10 years ago through the brigade, who chose to do something extraordinary — giving back to the community we call home.

Being a Volunteer Firefighter isn’t just about responding to the big calls. It’s about being there for our neighbours, supporting our community, and showing our children the importance of helping others.

From structure fires and motor vehicle accidents to medical first response, we’re trained and supported to handle it all as a team.
No experience needed — just the willingness to show up, learn, and make a difference.

Congratulations to Hayden on successfully completing his 7-Day Firefighter Recruit Course! 🚒

A great achievement and an important milestone in his firefighting journey with the Levin Volunteer Fire Brigade. The hard work, dedication, and commitment shown throughout the course have paid off, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow as a firefighter.

Special mention to Jackson who has since moved on from the brigade 🙂

🚒 Weekly Wrap-Up: 15 June – 21 June 2026 🚒

It’s been a relatively "quiet" week for the Levin crew, with a total of 9 calls keeping us on our toes (check out the full breakdown below)
Now, I know exactly what you’re thinking... and yes, I probably just massively jinxed us by using the 'Q' word. The rest of the brigade is currently staring at their pagers, collectively sweating and waiting for the universe to punish my optimism. 🤫 pager gods, please look the other way!

If the sirens go off in the next five minutes, you all know exactly who to blame.

Ever wondered who answers the call when our community needs help? It’s ordinary people doing extraordinary things—and you could be one of them.
The Levin Volunteer Fire Brigade is officially recruiting! We are looking for dedicated locals to join our whānau in two vital roles:

🧑‍🚒 Volunteer Firefighters: Get on the front line, tackle fires, assist at motor vehicle accidents, and save lives. (Full training and gear provided!)

🤝 Operational Support Volunteers: Crucial team members who manage traffic control, logistics, command and control, lighting, salvage and a wide range of other roles at incidents. No firefighting required, but absolutely essential to keeping everyone else on the incident ground safe.

A huge thank you to Kempys for generously donating a load of firewood to support our 2026 Sky Tower Challenge fundraising efforts for Blood Cancer New Zealand.

The firewood raffle has now been and gone, and thanks to the amazing support from our community it was a great success. We really appreciate everyone who purchased tickets and helped support such an important cause.

We’re incredibly grateful to Kempys for getting behind the team and helping us raise funds for Kiwis and families affected by blood cancers. Support from local businesses and the community makes a massive difference as we prepare to take on the Sky Tower Challenge in full firefighting gear and breathing apparatus.

April was another busy and rewarding month for our brigade, both on and off the truck.

A huge shoutout to Rhyna and Tessa, who represented us at the North Island Firefighter Competition in Hastings on the 10th of April. Both put in an outstanding effort and did the brigade proud.

Outside of operations, it was great to see our brigade families come together over Easter, with members and their kids enjoying some well-earned downtime and connection as a crew.

70 Calls attended between both our Volunteer and Career crew!
