Our Vietnamese - English Bilingual Storytime | Kể Chuyện Song Ngữ is finally here 🌕

A big thank you to Hutt City Council for helping us bring this little dream to life. ❤️

This will be Viet Hub NZ’s very first Vietnamese-English Bilingual Storytime, where we can share Vietnamese stories, culture and childhood memories with our wider community. A special thank you to Bảo Châu for volunteering and stepping up to take on her very first storytelling experience with us. ❤️ We’re so excited to have a new voice helping bring Vietnamese stories to life for our tamariki and wider community.

For our first session, we’ll be sharing stories that many Vietnamese children grew up hearing, especially stories traditionally told around Trung Thu | Moon Festival. Whether you speak Vietnamese, English, or are simply curious about Vietnamese culture, everyone is welcome to join us.

🌕 Come along and enjoy
📖 30-minute Vietnamese-English Bilingual Storytime
🏮 All-day Make Your Own Lantern craft
🎭 All-day Make Your Own Paper Mask craft
📚 A small selection of Vietnamese books available to borrow

And there’s something sweet to share too...Thanks to our collaboration with I love Vietfood, we’ll have 10 complimentary portions of Chè Trôi Nước, Vietnamese glutinous rice balls served in warm ginger syrup, for 10 families joining our Storytime.

Come hear the stories many of us grew up with, make something together, taste a little piece of Vietnamese tradition, and create your own Moonlit Memories with us. 🌕🏮

Free to join. Everyone is welcome Moerā Neighbourhood Hub, Lower Hutt at 107 Randwick Crescent, Moera, Lower Hutt 5010

🚗 When did you last check your tyres?

Your tyres can wear down between WoFs, so it’s worth checking the tread regularly. Worn tyres reduce grip and increase stopping distances, putting you and others on the road at risk.
From 1 November, the Government-mandated infringement fee for worn tyres is expected to increase from $150 to $350.

To help you stay safe and avoid a costly infringement, we’re giving away free NZTA tyre tread depth checker keyrings at Hutt City Council Neighbourhood Hubs.

They’re easy to use and handy to keep in your car – but we only have a few hundred, so they’re first in, first served.

Check your tyres. Keep them safe. Keep everyone safer on the road. 🚙

The playground is still open! 🎉

Works around the playground aren’t starting for roughly another month, so there’s still plenty of time to come down and enjoy it before then.

Please note the carpark is fenced off, so please use street parking or nearby parking options.

📌 Did you know we have a community notice board at the library?

It’s a great place to find out what’s happening locally — whether you’re looking to join the local Scrabble Club, fancy some delicious hangi, or want to keep up with other community activities and events.

And if you have something relevant to the community that you’d like to share, you’re welcome to leave a notice too (if there is space available)! 👀
