This Thursday we are celebrating Ngā Aukaha day.

As a staff we are going to highlight our campaign by wearing purple. We are asking tamariki and whānau to do the same.

Our five asks:

Increase dedicated teacher aide funding in early childhood centres and schools.

Increase the number of specialists (e.g. psychologists, physiotherapists and resource teachers) to meet student need.

Fund a dedicated Learning Support Coordinator or SENCO in every school and early childhood centre.

Expand the ORS criteria and increase the funding available so that it is based on need, rather than a fixed amount of funding available.

Develop and provide greater professional development (including career pathways) and specialist opportunities for educators to develop their understanding of learning support, including Initial Teacher Education

📚 Book Week & Tongan Language Week at Arakura School! 🇹🇴

We have an exciting week ahead as we celebrate Book Week alongside Tongan Language Week!

Throughout the week, our tamariki will be celebrating the joy of reading, sharing stories and enjoying activities that bring books to life. We’ll also be celebrating the beautiful Tongan language and culture across the kura.

🌟 Book Week Dress-Up Day – Thursday 20th August
Tamariki are invited to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book. Be creative, have fun and bring your favourite stories to life!

We’re looking forward to a wonderful week celebrating books, language, culture and learning together.

We had The NED Show come in today. They did a show about resilience, along with some very impressive yoyo tricks!
We will have some of The NED Show Yoyo's available to purchase at school - we were expecting to be able to start selling tomorrow, but they have been delayed!
We'll keep you updated.

SCHOOL GROUNDS CLOSED
We have three teams of contractors working over the two week non-contact time on property improvements. This includes the removal of asbestos in the main ‘Block 1’ of the school. For safety reasons, the school will be closed over the
break - please ensure your children and their older siblings stay away from school grounds.
