Hutt Valley Model Engineering Society Inc We run the miniature railway for the public every Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm - weather permitting We encourage children of all ages to visit us.

The Hutt Valley Model Engineering Society comprises around forty members with a wide range of interests, from clocks to precision tools to miniature steam locomotives, traction engines and marine plant. We hold a general meeting on the first Wednesday of the month from 7.45 pm. 🕰️🚂⛵🛻

🎟️🎟️The society operates a miniature railway for the public every Sunday between 1pm - 4pm (weather permitting),

$2.00 a ride or six rides for $10. - No EFTPOS available. We operate a mix of electric, diesel and live steam locomotives. Funds raised from the railway go towards Society projects and nominated charities.

🚨Big news for the Hutt Valley! 🚨

In response to the recent surge in commuters (thanks to fuel prices doing their thing 😅), Hutt Valley Model Engineers have stepped up to support Greater Wellington Regional Council…

From Sunday, we’ll be running a fully operational commuter rail service between Beach Station and… well… the end of the track 😄

✔️ 7¼” gauge rapid transit
✔️ Open-air carriages (bring a jacket!)
✔️ Average speed: “enthusiastically brisk”

Peak hour services will run every 6 minutes (depending on tea breaks and coal supply ☕🔥). Snapper is not accepted, but a friendly wave to the driver is encouraged.

GWRC has praised the initiative as “innovative and low-emissions.”
