Welcome. A little bit about the Waka Bridge Initiative. This Initiative is a volunteer based Initiative with no government funding but support from a collective of digital creatives. With the goal to both support tangata moana into creative tech employment but also to share success stories of our people.

What do we do and how do we do it ?
This initiative is designed to support graduates from tertiary study into creative employment pathway opportunities. Bridging the gap between study and employment for our communities. This comes in so many different shapes an forms and people are at different stages of there lives but the end goal is employment.

Who do we help ?
The Waka Bridge Initiative is designed to support students engaged with higher education, university or tertiary studies. Students in Years 2 or 3 of a Creative Bachelors. Ranging from Design, Animation, Web Design, Communications, Film making and more. Anything that identifies as a Digital Creative field we want to support them. These are generally Levels 6-7 and higher.

How ?
Atm the support is all online support with Māori & Pacific Industry mentors to navigate, mentor and advocate for them as they journey from graduation into employment.

Why ?
After extensive research it was clear that the entire pathway of a creative wasn't considered and the niche within a creative industry isn't as black and white as a lot of other industries out there. To this point this has been a passion project just helping creatives from our community where possible. But we look to continue developing and growing to continue to support our people into sustainable paid employment.
