On our doorstep - this hotel is not just about luxury and the boutique experience. Its uniqueness lies in the two lovely people (and their staff) who run it and make every guest feel as though they are especially welcome.

The Asbestos Cottage was built in 1897. This is a 4-5hr return walk into an area that is rich in history and stories. Exploring the remains of the Asbestos works and then a wee push up the hill, you arrive at the cottage that from 1914 was occupied by Annie and Henry Chaffey. Our Story

Mapua - a village near Nelson. It’s not big, it’s not important but it is great! For those of us who live here, and many of those who visit, Mapua is very special indeed. There are some fascinating people who call Mapua and the local region home and we’re all here for different reasons. Ruby Bay, Mahana, Upper and Lower Moutere are all close by and all have their own personalities and loyalties - but there’s no doubt there’s something out of the ordinary about this corner of New Zealand.
