๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ Strong Winds and Heavy rain on Way โ€“ Take Care and Be Prepared ๐Ÿ’จ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

With strong winds and heavy rain affecting parts of our region, now is a good time to make sure you and your property are prepared.

๐Ÿก Before the weather arrives:

๐Ÿ”ฅ If you have a burn pile, make sure it is completely extinguished. Strong winds can cause embers to reignite and spread.
๐Ÿ’จ Secure outdoor furniture, trampolines and other loose items that could be blown around.
๐ŸŒฟ Check for loose branches and keep clear of trees during strong winds.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Clear gutters and drains where it is safe to do so.
๐Ÿš— Take extra care on the roads and drive to the conditions.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Keep up to date with the latest weather warnings and follow advice from local authorities and emergency services.

โš ๏ธ Conditions can change quickly, so take a few minutes now to prepare.

Keep yourself, your whฤnau and your neighbours safe, and don't take unnecessary risks. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿ”ฅ While fire danger is expected to rise gradually through spring, strong westerly winds may bring periods of elevated fire danger in some regions

๐ŸŒฑ As spring progresses clear dead and dry vegetation from around buildings, make sure emergency vehicles can easily access your property, ensure water supplies are available and keep spring grass growth under control

๐Ÿƒ How quickly conditions change will depend on spring weather, including temperature, rainfall, humidity, and strong winds

๐Ÿก Now is the time to get prepared. Review your plans, talk with your community, and take practical steps to reduce fire risk before conditions become more challenging
