On Tuesday night we were hosted in Sanson. Some great questions and discussions about flood management and preparedness, plus Horizons' budget and financial management. The question was also discussed. As I have said before, Horizons has a minimal role in ThreeWaters reform. My personal view is that the proposed reform is unworkable and I do not support it in its current form. Thank you to the Sanson community for coming out to see the candidates. My message right now to everyone is VOTE.

I have been asked my view on 3Waters Reform. Personally, I do believe some reform is required but do not believe the proposed structure that Government is trying to impose is the right solution. They need to listen to what we as local communities are saying. Horizons is not directly involved in the 3 Waters Reform programme as it affects local council water assets only, although Horizons, as a regional Council will be involved in the continued monitoring and enforcement of 3 waters standards.

88,000 submissions BUT Are they LISTENING? The Finance & Expenditure Select Committee received a huge amount of submissions and many local governments, stakeholders and some individuals also appeared before the committee by zoom or in person expressing their opposition to proposed reform. Local communities must retain the right to make decisions about local assets.
