Te Whare Karakia

Te Whare Karakia We provide supportive accommodation to both single Women and Women with children, who are wanting positive lifestyle change.

Te Whare Karakia (House of Prayer) Ministries provides supportive accommodation for Women and their children. This is the beginning of a larger vision for the family/whanau of the Wairarapa. It is run by a Christian based group of People and Professionals who live and work within the local community of Wairarapa. We believe we are lead by Gods passion and desire to see Women and their family/whana

u be empowered to make positive lifestyle choices. This is for themselves and their family/whanau to live their day to day lives with more confidence to achieve their life goals. Age Requirements:
Women 18 - 50+
Children 0 - 12

Duration of Stay:
Although there is no set time limit this will be determined upon the progress of each person and their needs. We will do an initial assessment with the women in working out their needs while they are with us and put together a unique lifestyle plan. We will provide ongoing support throughout their stay to support them in achieving their goals. We are in the process of registering as a Trust and we have a number of trustees already in place. We rely on funding to operate the House, future staffing, running costs and programmes implemented at the House etc for the sole benefit of our Residents and their children. We hope to be able to employ a full time Coordinator and Night Staff through funding. At this point we are relying on volunteers to provide these supportive roles. We do have access to onsite Counsellors who can provide individual and couple counselling and also group work. We have connections to an extensive range of services and health providers including local Iwi within the Wairarapa and believe in Whanau Ora and Integrated Care as a way of achieving the best outcome for the people we support. FREEDOM is the ultimate goal for any person. Freedom from brokenness due to past hurts, wrong choices, unresolved issues. These are just a few areas in our lives that can keep us from reaching freedom. When combined all of these things often lead to a distorted image of self and unless we change this image our processing of our world around us will be just as distorted resulting in a life less extraordinary and limited then it could be. We want to walk with people to help them achieve their potential and to not only pass this on to their family/whanau but be able to demonstrate this by standing confidently and comfortably within their own role within the family/whanau..

Thousands of young lives have been affected by conflict, drought and famine in South Sudan. Children just like me have had to flee for their lives across the border to Uganda, becoming refugees. Hi everyone. It is with sadness that we have closed Te Whare Karakia.
This Saturday we are having a garage sale to sell the furniture etc we have left. It starts at 8am and goes to 3pm. We have beds, drawers, bunks, bedding, toys, kitchen utensils, cots, changing tables, chairs, dining room table and chairs and a dishwasher. Everything has to go and all proceeds will be going to the Salvation Army who helped us to furnish the place in the beginning. Most things are $10 or below.
Come along and get a bargain.
