Today marks the start of New Zealand Women’s Health Week and we're encouraging wāhine to prioritise their health and wellbeing 🩺💛

Women face inequity during cardiac emergencies. Last year, our ambulance crews responded to around 2,500 people who experienced cardiac arrest in the community and about 30% of those people were female.

But did you know that in Aotearoa, women are half as likely as men to receive defibrillation from a bystander despite being just as likely to receive CPR? ⚡

Raising awareness is a vital step towards improving survival outcomes and encouraging more people to gain the skills and confidence to act in an emergency.

Although we're focusing on women's health this week, everyone can get involved. Find out more in the link below 🔗

Our emergency ambulance service is currently experiencing very high demand 🚑 but we are here when you need us most.

If someone is seriously ill or injured, or there is an immediate threat to life, call 111 immediately 📞

People with less urgent conditions may experience longer wait times than usual. We appreciate your patience.

For non-emergency health concerns, we encourage people to seek advice early and check what healthcare services are available locally, and consider booking an online GP appointment, calling Healthline or visiting your pharmacist 🩺

Please be kind and respectful to our ambulance staff - they are working incredibly hard and doing their absolute best 💛

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our colleague Matthew, who passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Matthew was a highly respected Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at Matamata Station. He will be remembered for the kindness, compassion, and genuine care he showed to his patients, colleagues, and everyone he met. He brought a positive outlook to those around him and made a lasting impact on our people and the communities he served.

If you are able to help Matthew’s whanau, here is the link to Give a Little Page https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/matthews-broken-heart

Kia kaha, Matthew – rere noa tō tātou hoa.
Fly free, our friend. You will be deeply missed.
