Kia ora e te whānau,

An update on the School Speed Zone upgrade from Travel Smart.

Travel Safe would like to provide an update on the rollout of the new school speed zones and what to expect over May and June.

The project is now in the installation stage, with suppliers and contractors engaged to install or relocate signage in line with the updated speed rule. Residents within and surrounding each school speed zone should have received communication from Tauranga City Council.

Upcoming activities include:
* School community communication: A letter is attached for sharing with your school community. This includes your school zone times and a map of the school zones in your area.
* City-wide campaign: The school speed zones campaign will go live on Friday 15 May, across print (including a sponsored editorial), radio, bus backs, billboards and digital media platforms. Posters used in the campaign are attached and may be printed and displayed within your school.
* Installation and testing of signage: Once each site is installed, all signage will be checked and formally handed over by the contractor.
* Activation of 30km/h variable school speed zones: Each site will be activated as it becomes ready. You will be notified once your school speed zone is live and operating, along with a template message for sharing with your community.
* School closure information: Schools will receive a short survey twice a year to confirm term dates and full or half-day closures. This information will be used to manage the deactivation of electronic signs when schools are closed.
* 10-minute activation access: Schools will receive a login to activate the speed zone for 10 minutes when needed, such as during one-off periods of high student movement outside normal activation window before and after school.

Timeframes:
The project remains on track, with 30km/h variable school speed zones expected to be operational by July this year. Progress will continue to be closely monitored, and further updates will be provided.

Ngā mihi,
Travel Safe Team

Wow team, what an amazing final show!

Everyone was so pumped and proud of themselves, and rightly so. This really was a true team effort, so a huge thank you to all of our teachers, TAs, students, whānau, Whaea Vicki, and Patrice for everything you have done to make this such a success for our tamariki. It really is an epic feeling to see it all come together.

We also know just how hard our tamariki have worked over the past week, and as Whaea Vicki said last night, a well deserved sleep in or day of rest has been earned by all. Please do whatever works best for you and your tamariki today.

I’ll be sorting through photos over the next few days, and I know the show video will also be in the process of being created, so watch this space!

Ngā mihi everyone! So proud to be apart of the ATK family! It really is amazing what we can achieve when we all come together 💙
