Manawatia a Matariki ✨

What a special way to celebrate Matariki together as a Roopu A Iwi whānau.

Our day began with a beautiful hautapu, taking time to reflect, remember those who have passed, give thanks, and set our intentions for the year ahead.

We then had the privilege of being guided by Pereri King on a hīkoi around Ahuriri, where we learnt about the history and significance of Pandora, the marae pou by the airport, and how these places are connected to tell the story of Te Karoro. We continued our journey to Mataruahou, where we were able to take in the breathtaking views across Ahuriri while gaining a deeper understanding of the whenua, its history, and the stories that continue to shape our community.

To finish the day, we returned to the office to reflect together, sharing our learnings and whakaaro from the morning.

Ngā mihi nui to Pereri King for sharing your knowledge and helping us strengthen our connection to the whenua, our history, and one another.

Reflections of our whakatauki tenei marama:

Our kaimahi have been coming together as peer support groups to share a case study and kōrero about it to build community and strengthen practice.

This exercises our values of Whakaruruhau, Rangatiratanga and Manaakitanga for each other and a space to improve Oranga "because there is always a pathway to wellbeing"
