Congratulations to Steph, she presented her pitch on behalf of her company 'Frystreet Mix' to the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) Judges - she aced it! Steph's company is making and marketing a frybread mix. Get your tastebuds tingling, Steph's product will be available for sale next term and possibly, right at the end of this term (so you can have frybread for Matariki).

Our Year 12 and 13 Trades Academy @ EIT Hawke's Bay Hospitality (Level 2) and Cookery students (Level 3) recently baked all sorts of wonderful café style pastries, scones and cakes for EIT Scholars Café, they also made coffees, hot chocolates and tea. They then provided a light lunch at the Café. Careers staff were invited for morning tea, and members of the public were also able to pop in to buy the café offerings.

We can absolutely say that all of the students were amazing and the food was delicious.

Chloe and Steph are Year 12, and Deejay and Kotahi are Year 13 students.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 9th, year 12 students will take part in ‘Loves-Me-Not’ workshops. Our Health teachers in conjunction with Senior Constable Mark Johnson and his colleagues from Eastern District Police will be facilitating this programme.
This workshop uses a student inquiry learning process, to empower students to take action to prevent harm from relationship abuse and to develop healthy relationships.

The aims of Loves-Me-Not are to:
• encourage and empower young people to absolutely reject abuse in relationships
• encourage young people to be safe and active bystanders who take action against unhealthy relationships
• encourage young people to take a stand against myths in society that perpetuate relationship violence
• help young people know who they can go to in their community to seek advice and support if they need it as either victims or perpetrators
• encourage young people to contribute to, or create a wider community response so as to encourage others to accept only healthy relationships.

Thank you to Senior Constable Mark and his colleagues for all of their help with this programme.

Our students had a fantastic day at Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa taking part in hands-on STEM workshops and exploring science in a real university lab setting. It was a great opportunity for them to use specialist equipment, work alongside university staff, and see where science learning can lead beyond school.

We are proud of the way our students represented our kura with curiosity, enthusiasm, and respect throughout the day.

A big thank you to Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa for hosting us and providing such an engaging learning experience.

:: Leadership in Action: PE Students Coach Tamatea Intermediate School ::

Throughout Weeks 4–7 of Term 2, our Year 12 and 13 Physical Education students stepped into coaching roles, running weekly sports sessions for over 50 energetic Tamatea Intermediate students.

This hands-on experience allowed our seniors to put leadership principles into practice. They focused on developing clear communication, managing equipment efficiently, and evaluating effective group leadership strategies. This practical work forms the foundation of their main assessment report for the term.

We are incredibly proud of how our students represented the school. Feedback from the Tamatea Intermediate staff and students was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting that our seniors managed large, boisterous groups with outstanding calmness, confidence, and a great sense of humour!

Ex student Ana followed her dreams and is now bringing her fashion back to her home town of Napier. Holi Boli fashions will be in Hastings Street, Napier during June. Go and say hello to Ana and check out her beautiful clothing.

Tamatea High School is proud to celebrate the successes of both our current students and our ex students. Welcome home Ana.

Back to where it all began ...

We love it when we come to Napier because it feels like coming home!

Napier is a special part of the Holi Boli story, with founder and designer Ana discovering her passion and learning to sew at Tamatea High School in the early 90s. It’s also where she fell in love and married Napier born and raised, salty-haired surfer, Daniel Gee.

With one Fashion Design Diploma, two sewing machines, three children and hearts full of dreams, they relocated to India and founded Holi Boli to empower women in villages through fearless ethical fashion.

From 1st June to 27th June, Holi Boli will be popping-up in the former Dandan space at 129 Hastings Street. Come and be styled by the designer herself, try on our new silky-soft cotton sateen tops, dresses, cosy merino knitwear, smart-casual blazers, and new season jeans.

Pop-Up Dates:
1st - 27th June
Ex-Dandan Shop, 129 Hastings Street, Napier
