We respect everyone’s right to express their thoughts and opinions and encourage constructive dialogue among members of this group. However, if your posts and/or messages don’t comply with Facebook’s Terms and/or our House Rules, we reserve the right to remove them from our page. If you repeatedly don’t adhere to these Terms and Rules, we may block you from posting to and accessin
g the Nelson City Council page. While we moderate this site, we hope to create a community with you built on respect and a culture of self-moderation. With that in mind, here are our House Rules.
**Consider other people**
Please do not share content, images or links to things considered obscene, offensive, defamatory, threatening, harassing, overtly sexual, discriminatory or hateful to another person or organisation--including us, our partners, our employees and other people or organisations. Please also ensure your Direct Messages (DMs) to us are not offensive, defamatory, threatening, harassing, discriminatory or hateful. On subsequent violations, users will be blocked from accessing our page.
**No spam**
No repeat posts or unsolicited ads. Please no multiple or repetitive posts by a single user, or repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users.
**Keep it relevant**
Please ensure your posts on our page are relevant to the Nelson City Council page and thread. Please do not post your own or anyone else’s personal information.
**Competitions**
All applicants must be Nelson residents to be eligible for our Facebook giveaways and competitions. We have the right to re-draw a prize if the applicant is not located in Nelson and/or doesn't meet any criteria set out in the competition post.
**Elections**
Our page must not be used for electioneering purposes. Any post--positive or negative--made by any individual specifically relating to their own or someone else's nomination, intention to run for Council, or election campaign will be removed immediately.

While we support lively, open discussion, we reserve the right, at our discretion, to hide or delete any comments that don’t comply with our rules or that we otherwise think are inappropriate and (if required) block users. We also reserve the right to turn off comments on posts at any time.
