Taranaki Toy Library Trust is a charitable trust providing good quality toys to children Lots of different types of memberships.

You can find us behind the Knox Presbyterian Church on Devon Street in Fitzroy, New Plymouth. You are welcome to come and see us and check the library out :-) We are open Tue, Thur, Sat 9.00-13.00, Tue 2-4pm and Thur night 6.30-8.30pm. Look them up under the General Information. We have over 1800 toys, mainly for pre-school aged children. Membership Entitlement:

What a Saturday! What wonderful families who came in and chose to loan toys. Families who have been with us for years and brand new families. It was busy, loud and lively! That’s just the way I like it but also understand it’s not everyone’s way. If you want a quite time to visit our Library please just ask. We are always happy to help. My helpers today were so amazing & coped so well, counting hundreds of pieces with a big smile. They were shown respect and kindness. Thank you team Taranaki Library members. We are now all ready for you to visit on Tuesday ❤️💜💚

We had a happy Rātū! Lovely to see so many families come in today. We hope you got our email, send earlier. This email was a discount for you to give to someone who might like to be part of our Toy Library. We also wanted to let you know we will be closed this Saturday 30th May. A long weekend to spend with our families. We will see you 9am Tuesday. If you toys are due, please keep until Tuesday 2nd June. Email us if you have any questions, always happy to help 😀

World play day is coming up next week! 🌍

Thursday 28th May is World Play Day!

This year’s theme is “Play for Peace” and NZ Toy Libraries are all currently planning unique ways to celebrate our Tamariki’s universal right to play.....because play is so much more than just “fun”.
It is:

This year we would like to give our current Toy Library members a little something to pass onto people they love.

We will send you a code via email. (On Tuesday) It will be for you to give a family or a friend a 20% discount for joining Taranaki toy library on either a 6 month rostered or unrostered membership. (Valid until Saturday 6th June 2026. Please NB: We are closed Kings birthday weekend).

As a current member you are the best person to tell others how cool it is to be part of a toy library. We are grateful to you all and would love to see our community grow ❤️💜💚

We are really grateful for the skill and time from Sam at .up.society! Sam was able to repair our Co****le bag so well. She used an old sail which she had, the strapping from the old bag and her talent. Then Sam was able to repair our beautiful flag which we love! This aligned with our values to be sustainable with materials and repair when and where you can. We are always learning new ways to repair and not buy new every time. Thank you .up.society 🧵🪡 ❤️💜💚

This sunshine was so beautiful, so we decided to get the Little Tikes Build and Spalsh Wet/Dry Table out.

Colourful and fun with a pouring jug, a boat to zoom around the water moat and blocks. Reserve for $3 if you are keen to have this toy. 💦

We are having a quiet day and that includes trying one of library’s body socks!
My tama found it lovely to roll and stretch in and laid in the afternoon sun quietly for a little while.
A wonderful sensory tool for many children. Take a look at the benefits of body socks online and then loan from us when you are next at the Toy Library 🙌

Good evening everyone! We had the rainbow sensory blocks out after school today! Beautiful in the ☀️
To build with, while exploring the different shapes, colours and textures inside. Recommended for over 2 years but my 7 year old loves them. A beautiful toy Library toy which is so good for relaxing with while learning. A donation from Taranaki Foundation from a while back, that’s still going strong 🙏 We are open from 9am tomorrow until 1pm then again from 2pm-4pm. Mōrena. Hope everyone has been ok in the wind. We are using the Animal Clock Puzzle to practice our time knowledge. Cute and colourful to get the kids interested ⏰ We are open today 9am-1pm and again at 6.30pm-8.30pm. FYI- We are closing on Saturday to mark ANZAC day. If you need to swap your toys, pop in today or there is always next week ❤️💜💚

We hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter weekend. Whether it was quiet or busy and slightly hectic, we hope there was time for play 🤩 Our little friend here has made good use of the tuff tray from the Toy Library. Painting his little Easter activities. Can also be used with sand, water, rice or dirt for all types of play. Great for role play, sensory and messy play too. We are open all normal hours during the school holidays and have plenty of room for new members too! ❤️💜💚

March has been wonderful for us at the library. We have had so much support and we love what we do ❤️ Our toy library will be closed this coming Saturday so that we can all enjoy the long Easter weekend with our families.

If your toys are due this Saturday then you have the option of renewing your toys, or feel free to pop into any other session this week or next week. We are also so pleased that we are open normal hours for the school hoildays 😊
